Agents, as all programs, are not controlled by a central server. They do not get commands from a high authority (like the Architect or the Dues Ex Machine God). They are instead independent; interacting with other programs and objects. They have a number of commands that are triggered when a number of things are detected. Their tasks are: stop people becoming unplugged, searching for the leader of the resistance, killing the rebels and destroying exile programs. They gather information from three sources. One, listening to telephone calls, two, what they detect with their own ‘senses’ (sight, touch, smell), and three, from what people that are still plugged in see. They can move from place to place by running or in vehicles, and can ‘jump’ great distances by leaving one host and joining another. They can only jump these distances when a person plugged into the matrix 'sees' something they are looking for. This is why the Merovingian lives in a chateux in the mountains surrounded in exile programs. This is also why the merv has so much power. The exiles cannot leave or they will be killed by agents so they must stay. When a program is faultly and/or 'dies' it goes to the source. This is, pretty much, the 01 mainframe. It is connected to the Matrix by the trainmans' station. The anti-virus Agents cannot get to the trainstation and so cannot get rid of the trainman. As you saw in Revolutions, the rules are different in the trainstation and Neo lost all his powers. Neo has learnt to bend the rules of the matrix, but hasnt broken the rules of the trainstation. he is, in the station, as Thomas Anderson was in the metacortex building. Also, differnet Agents do different things. Smiths task was to kill the rebels. As he is independant he didnt know that Neo was the one, just anothe rebel. The Architect doesnt worry about Agents attacking the anomoly required for the matrix to function because he knows the One will be able to destroy them. Another Agent, Johnson for example, has the task to deleting exile programs. Once again he destroys all exiled progrmas be it a malfunctioning tree or a keymaker. A program is exiled when it has fulfilled its purpose but has not returned to the source. In Enter the Matrix, the Keymaker gives Niobi and Ghost a key. This it the key for the room at the end of revolutions. this it the keymakers purpose fullfilled and he then becomes an exile, hence why johnson is trying to kill him in the highway chase.

I have more, much more. What do you think?

All sounds pretty much in order to me, although i'm not convinced that Neo had lost his powers in the trainstation. I just think that the Train Man had a higher state of powers, since it was him who built the place.

As for agents, i think that while they are all "conncted" they do not follow orders form the machine god, or the archietect. I do think that they run as a team, tkaing no orders "from above" perhaps they think theat they are in charge? While those above them know that this is not the case.

What do you think?

Forgive me on this one, but reading the part on the Keymaker (having not play EoM/PoN/MxO) was the Keymakers sole purpose just to create the Key for Neo to get into Archies room?

The whole point of this program to give the 6th One a key.

I find this a bit hard to believe.

Granted that was his fate, but I fail to see that a Program is created to be made a exile on 'the' key being handed over to the One.
