What's going on with the last piece of the dominoes that doesn't fall?

We see it later near the end of the movie again..

When Finch is speaking about his vision that everything was connected and that it's really a long chain of events, V is building the dominoes..

Does it mean that now the time has come for V's last thing to do? (Last domino)

Am I guessing right, do you think something else or can you explain it better?

I'd like to hear others' take on this as well.

What do you think about the connection between all the things that occur in the movie including the history we are shown?

It seems to me that the rise of the totalitarian state itself is connected to V, as if there is some lesson being taught to the whole country in this. But I could be wrong and even if not, I'm open to more elaboration on this. What do you think, th3 p4th?

Hm... You quoted me at your previous post. Smile

But I'm not sure.

Finch speaks about a long chain of events but do the domino pieces symbolize that chain? Maybe the procedure of setting them up does.. but what about them falling?

*thinks*

Finch speaks about the past, present and the future.

With his vision he sees that it's a long chain of events - V is setting the dominoes(past)

He predicts that something will get wrong and things will turn nasty(present-immediate future).

Then Sutler will be forced to do what he knows well(immediate future-future).

And he completes his speech by saying that V will keep his promise(blow the Parliament) "And then.." and V makes the dominoes fall.

We see images of riots (is this the correct word? Whatthe ) taking place as the dominoes violently make the other dominoes fall, etc. Are these images from the future after the end of the movie? When these things are supposed to happen?

EDIT

BTW I really like the combination of V for Vendetta and The Little Prince (en.wikipedia.org...) (see my current signature) For the full book in three languages --> prince.shadowpuppet.net...

Nice focus.

That's the thing, isn't it, th3 p4th? A long chain of events stretching back to Larkhill and beyond back to (what's the name of the bioterrorist attack that killed 100,000 citizens?). Now we see V setting up the dominoes. But what is being said by the linking of events not directly caused by V to those not caused by him (supposedly) at all?

But I think the dominoes falling relate to the events that happen during the course of the movie perhaps the destruction of the Old Bailey being the first domino. The last domino not falling being likely to be the last event that he said he could not be part of, the destruction of Parliament.

Hm... like what I said first, that maybe it's V's last thing to do(but he doesn't).

But when Evey notices the little domino piece near the end, exactly then Finch comes and tries to stop her.

Hm.. What if the last domino is Finch? The dominoes that are falling are the people that start to believe in V and will follow him. Near the end only Finch, of those that would follow V, still opposes him. Only one piece is standind and V takes it with him to the train, perhaps knowing that Finch will come there?

This might explain the images that we are shown while the dominoes fall..
The dominoes fall and we see people in the streets = people that start to fight for their rights again?

In the original graphic novel, V goes to the Underground in order to meet Finch who starts to understand V and his actions and this thing (and the pressure of the goverment to find him) drives him mad. His has the vision to see what happened in the past, but only after he takes LSD and visit Larkhill. So after following all steps of V he goes to the Underground, V comes knowing that he will come and Finch kills him!

V could easily kill Finch but he didn't. He went there in order to be killed and stop. He told Evey that he leaves to meet "the man" (if I remember well). He prepared her, because he knew that he will not come back.

Only after his death we can say that Finch becomes "free".

But in the movie V goes with Evey to the Underground and then leaves to fight Creedy. Finch knows where to find V, thanks to his vision and the fact that he went to Larkhill.(no LSD this time). But he still wants to kill V, doesn't he? V played all these tricks, he was always a step further and that drove Finch mad. He was right in front of him and he didn't know that Rockwood is V! Only after V is killed Finch becomes free. Right when we see the last domino piece for the last time...

What about this, intell?

Multiple interpretations.... I love Wachowskis.

Good. And nice comparison with the graphic novel (comic book). I want to read what others have gotten out of it, as well.

America doesn't come off too bad in that video really. The cops are definitely curious about V, but they don't arrest him, remove his mask, demand ID (though many ask), or (ultimately) confiscate anything from him.

I somehow doubt that there are an abundance of countries in which you can wander around with realistic looking knives on your belt for no apparent reason and not get people a little worried.

Now, what really disgusts me about my country is this ... news.yahoo.com... ... Specifically, the fact that it will sell and be well watched. Nono
