The Sentinel Scene at Reloaded's end

Did anyone ever notice that at the end of Reloaded there were 5 sentinels coming after the group. Neo stopped them. But when he was speaking to The Oracle about the situation he said "Tell me how I stopped four sentinels by thinking it?" Did he only feel, but stopped 5? Did one of the sentinel's consciousness get through like on the road to the machine city? Or did I see wrong?

Neo: "I need time."

Roland: "That figures."

Whitelaugh

Just a movie mistake probably. And, if you have stopped a bunch of big ass squiddy robot thingys by thinking it, then chances are you won't remember exactly how many there where lol.

The fifth one must have took a lesson from Agents Jones and Brown and ran away when the power of the One proved too much to take down. Whitelaugh

That happens with every myth. The process of this actually has a name (well the name covers a couple such ideas) in Judaism. It's called midrash. Midrash is a form of biblical commentary meant to "fill in the gaps." It is essentially what this forum is. It covers things like, Cain and Able are the only children of Adam and Eve mentioned so how is it Cain is exiled to another city with people in it? Midrash attempts to explain seeming discrepancies like that. It is founded in the idea that the Bible is without imperfection so any seeming imperfection are merely clues to some deeper meaning or hidden myth.

We do it here with the Matrix all the time, and it's lots of fun. We are all writing our own myths and meanings. We are the midrash of the Matrix.

It could be founded on the idea that the text needs wise people to come to its rescue. Like Uzzah thrusting out his hand to "save" the Ark of the Covenant from falling. Wink

No. I told you to delete the 5th sentinel from the screen.
I did. The closeups didn't show how many there were when he "stopped" them.
What about when they first show up.
Whups.

It's from a version of the kid's game Tag/Hide and Seek. Opponents hide from the seeker, but there is a "safe base" (a tree or swing set or something immobile and taggable) and the hiders' goal is to reach the safe base and tag it without being tagged themselves by the seeker. When you reach the home base you shout "Oli Oli Oxen Free!" Means you have crossed the finish line and can not be tagged.

Right! In Greek we shout "Ftou xeleftheria"

(Ftou means.. nothing and xeleftheria originates from eleftheria --> freedom)

EDIT

Actually 'ftou' is the sound that you make when you spit.

So when you play hide and seek in Greece your "Ready or not Here I come" call is the sound of spitting on the word freedom? Sounds like we have a bunch of Greeks in our political system *cue V for Vendetta theme song*

As for the sentinels, I don't remeber seeing one cut and run, all five were short-circuiting when on final approach to Neo. Sounds like, if the plot of artificial intelligence developing emotions continues, one of the busted sentinels that was destroyed by the newly empowered Neo refused to return to the source and was compelled to stay. Like Smith, that particualr sentinel may have been the one who flew through Neo moments before Neo "realised" (I always thought he was told by the sentinel) to flew over the walls and approach the city from the exact angle seen in the opening seconds of M3's intro.

Well we don't say "Ready or not here I come" but *ftou* *ftou* and I'm coming to find you!

Sounds silly, but it's funny! Whitelaugh

No sillier than oli oli oxen free. I have no idea what the origin of that phrase is. But if you know me, you know I'm more than happy to BS one using simple observation and circular logic--

Oli, as we know, is a term in skateboarding for popping the board up for a little jump. Perhaps it once simply meant to jump up.

So, back in the day, when the oxen would break out of their pens and run wild, the kids would jump up on a fence or climb up in a tree (to be safe from the rampage), and shout down-- Oli oli [jump, jump] the ox are loose!

Over time the danger of stampeding oxen became much smaller, but kids still shouted the phrase when they reached a safe spot in a game of tag just as they used to do after jumping to safety during a stampede.

Sounds right, huh? Whitelaugh

Correction:

I have many years to play the game, so now I remember exactly what are the phrases.

It's " *ftou* *ftou* xeleftheria"

while in English is "oli oli oxen free"

It seems that 'oli' was replaced with 'ftou'. Also xeleftheria doesn't exist as a word, eleftheria(freedom) does.

So I think that we took the 'x' from the oXen and replaced 'free' with eleftheria(freedom) --> Xeleftheria

Also when the guy that is trying to find the others, finds one goes back to the safe zone and shouts "*ftou* *ftou* one (put name here)"

Example: "*ftou* *ftou* one Peter (guy)"
