I guess that by not being the native language of either of us, our common lack of knowledge will cancel out any misunderstandings that may arise.

So do you support the batteries-theory? Or is it your opinion that the thing the machines really are harvesting is a secret-special-kind-of-fusion-chemical in our brain that is the only way to power the secret-special-kind-of-fusion-reactors that is the REAL source of energy?

So why would they create more of them than nessecarry?

They may have been a greater demand at some time, and the machines do not like to destroy each other. The destruction of the 3rd Zion required about 3.5 million sentinels, and most of theese are unemployed at the moment.

They have the factory workers, and those that maintain the infastructure, and maybe a couple supercomputer scientist things. But thats it. There is no spare time. There are no extra machines.

So certain you are. So you do not think they are trying to fix the sky which the humans scorched or are trying to reach another planet?

Conclusion: Rambling aside, simply put. All they do is maintain themselves.

Not even a little game of chess? Or maybe they have found a harddrive with the complete "Jackass" series and gather at night to smoke bongs and laugh.

I was only making the point that it would make more sense to use our heat rather than our electricity . I do not support the battery theory . Fusion refers to nuclear capture . An atom may capture an alpha , beta , or gama particle . They can also decay ( fission ) . This can generate a great amount of energy ( 235U used in nuclear plants ) . The neurotransmiters in our brain do not contain any uranium so how could they generate that much energy ? Maybe these machines have come up with new technology that we cannot comprehend today . But if you ask me , this whole energy theory makes no sense . There must be another reason for keeping humans alive .
Energy cannot be created , only transformed from one form to another . It wouldn't be wise to use the human body as a power source , because the chemical energy that we consume is converted in many different types of energy ( electrical , mechanical , heat ) . In order to recuperate the energy produced , the machines would have to take this energy from different sources .
