»The War«

I havn't yet seen the animatrix but ive seen all three films. I just wanna know how who started the war between humans and machines. Ive been hearing that the animatrix explains it all but i havnt seen it yet and dont plan on it cause i hate anime cartoons. Someone fill me in with details please

hey Tman im not a big fan of anime either. But I really enjoyed the animatrix. It really helps you see alot deeper into the world of the matrix. Anyways I dont remember the first or second renaissance part too much so ill try to explain as much as I remember. Maybe someone who has it and remembers it more clearly can fix up my mistakes. Basically it goes like this.

We created AI. Eventually AI became so lifelike that the machines refused to be destroyed when we wanted them too. Eventually all of these machines got together and formed their own "country". This is where I get confused. I think we attacked the robots thinking they caused a threat to us and they retaliated. We scorched the sky to try to help us win but it hurt us just as much as them. The robots were much better at war and could mass produce troops so eventually we fell to their army and we eventually signed a treaty.

I dont remember so dont flame me but I think we agreed in the treaty to be plugged into the matrix.

If you REALLY want an answer to this question, then I recommend that you set aside your hate for Anime for once and watch The Second Renaisance.

Man creates artificial intellegence
Man makes robots and machines do all the work.
All work includes making more robots- robots start improvong AI
Since machines are now intellegent like man, they want the right to live
Man thinks robots are sub-human, they dont deserve any rights, robots get banned everywhere
Man persecutes and hate the robots, so the robots retreat to an area and make it their own country: Z-1
Problem is, that robots build everything best, so their economy soars, while the rest of the countries start becoming poor
Machines/robots go to the UN to try and make peace, but the men kill their ambassadors.
The world of man decides to war against the robots and destroy them all.
Nuclear weapons could be used, but the nuclear fallout would kill all men, while surviving robots wouldnt be affected, so nukes dont get used.
A horrible bloody war happens
Man tries to blackout the sky to stop the robots
Robots basically take over the earth anyway, they go back to the UN, force a treaty of sorts to be signed where man signs over all their flesh, the UN is nuked, surviving men are used as energy.

You gave the easy way out which is the route I was trying to avoid.

Oh well. What's done is done.

I still recommend the actual viewing of the Anime.
