[Matrix Reloaded] Niobe: "I remember. I remember you used to dance. I remember you were pretty good." Morpheus: "There are some things in this world, captain Niobe, that will never change." Lock: "Niobe!" Morpheus: "Some things do change."

This is a pretty simple and straightforward question. I'm wondering where did Neo's dreams and visions come from, or what was the source of where his dreams and visions came from. Anybody have any ideas?

I was wondering if anyone, now, has some answers to this question.

Quote: | | ORACLE: You have the Sight now, Neo. You are looking at the world without time. |
If anyone truly believes that nothing supernatural happens in the Matrix mythology, they will have much difficulty explaining the phenomenon of the Sight. The Oracle has this same gift, which is the very thing that causes the Merovingian to covet her eyes. While there are some things that the Oracle believes will happen, the Sight allows her to know certain things.

NEO: Do you already know if I'm going to take it?
ORACLE: Wouldn't be much of an Oracle if I didn't. |
She states quite clearly here that it is her ability to use the Sight which makes her the Oracle. This is not a guessing game, nor is the Oracle choosing the most likely path given her knowledge of the human psyche. Instead, she sees the world without time.
I have been learning about the idea that time is an illusion, created by our inability to perceive everything at once. Everything, everyone, and every event have already happened, but our inability to comprehend this creates a perception that things run on a linear path, with one event following the next. Neo has apparently transcended this, and has begun to perceive things in a way that no one else (except the Oracle) can.
The concept of time as a flawed perception is backed up by the idea that you cannot see past a choice you do not understand. If you can see the world without time via a truly expanded consciousness and understanding, then the opposite would be true as well--limited understanding of a future choice would cause you to be unable to see beyond that choice. Only when you regain understanding can you again begin to see into the murky depths of the future.
So is the future a set thing according to the Matrix mythology? Apparently certain things about the future CAN be known, implying that it is set. But perhaps other things cannot be known, and are therefore not set. Is it possible for some parts of the future to be set and others not? That's a good discussion right there.
But how did Neo get these abilities? Because he's the One and he HAS to have them. We're all here to do what we're all here to do, and for Neo to walk on his Path, he must have the Sight. While that sounds cheesy and very unenlightening, I doubt that anything more technical is going to be any more satisfying or closer to the truth. You can say that he gets these powers from the Source, but then the question becomes how the Source gained the ability to grant this gift. You can keep backing up from one perceived origin to another until eventually you must simply acknowledge that it just is. That's where faith comes in. Right intell?
