I have a theory about Neo and Trinity...

When Neo and Trinity first meet in the club, you know they were made for each other, literally. Thoughout the movies, they help each otehr, first Trinity ressurects Neo, by telling him, she loves him, then Neo revives Trinity, by pulling the bullet out of her coded body. She is Neo's strength and his very reason of existence. She is the reason why he continues why he fights, why he breaths... Unlike the other "Ones", Neo had Trinity, the Oracle wished to break the cycle of the Matrix, that the architect had so perfectly set up. She took a piece from Neo and created the Trinity program. She is a part of him and is him. It is like Eve from the rib of Adam. When she died, it was not because Smith became more powerful that caused, Neo to be weaker, it is because part of his was dead, killing the delecate balance and giving Smith the upperhand. Neo broke the cycle again by making peace with the machines in exchange for the sacrifice of his body to rid the Matrix of the Smith virus, Neo is the antivirus and could have easily destroyed Smith and would have had the machines bowing to him in fear of his power, as planned by the oracle, but she did not contemplate the death of Trinity. Thus destroying the balance. Smith, then, did not contemplate, Neo being Hard-wired to the source, thus the equation was balanced, but the matrix was not restarted and Zion was still standing, now the fate of the matrix lies in the hands of a mere game or is it more? The Matrix Online...

Neo didn't seem to show any affection to Trinity until he ate the cookie. When the Oracle said "I understand why she likes you", Neo didn't even know whom she was talking about.

Neo:"there is no spoon"
Merovingian:"there is no lipstick!"

Thats true. perhaps the cookie made him fall in love with Trin. Or maybe its the fact that she mentions love that he starts thinking about it. Like when he breaks the vase after she tells him not to worry about it...

Some interesting points, but unfortunately no. Your missing the point of why Neo has to die, also it assumes too much control from Oracle etc.

How far does the Oracle go? Would Trinity have fallen in love with Neo had the Oracle said nothing? These and many more Oracle issues are answered in this thread: matrix-explained.com...<--click

I'm sorry, but you lost me as soon as you referred to Neo and Trinity as 'programs.'

I also think you're giving the Oracle way too much credit. There really isn't enough evidence to grant the Oracle any more power than she appears to have in the movies, and she never appears to be pulling any strings behind the scenes, as you seem to suggest.

you are free to try to convince me. Smile

Nope. Sorry. All rubbish. Including the cookie business. The cookie is just a nice metaphor symbolising the assistence Neo needs from the Oracle in understanding his destiny:

- M1 takes the cookie (and her advice) without question.
- M2 takes the candy but does not eat it then begins to question the Oracle
- M3 refuses the candy completely and comes to understand his own destiny by himself (visions).

Good Observation AzarN, nicely put.

Got me thinking about it...

In M1 we learn Neo didn’t like the idea that he’s not in control of his own life.

What He seems to come to realise is he is in control, but he has a destiny to fulfil/realise.

Know thyself.

The Oracle is a guide, helping him find the path.

Excellent! Thumbup I could not put it any better than you just did; and I could not agree more with your interpretation. It fits perfectly with what I am studying - the perennial philosophy, or, the Mysteries.

You know, a thought just came to me....

In ancient Greece, I have read, Esoteric Schools (which we today call 'Mystery schools/religions/cults') had Inner Mysteries - which required a difficult initiation and a vow of secrecy, and were therefore few in number - and Outer Mysteries - in which the masses could take part. The Outer Mysteries were made of myths and rituals designed to teach ethical lessons while encoding deeper truths for initiates into the Inner Mysteries.

The Schools were often persecuted (for lack of a better term) by the Empirically-sanctioned Pagan religion - the product of those masses who learned only the Outer Mysteries, and never got to the deeper, profound truths. They took the myths literally, because the profound deeper meanings were lost to them.

Later, a similar thing would happen in the Empire of Rome, and the Mysteries of Mithras. I even believe it possible, given the Gnostic Christian myth cycle's similarities to that of Osiris-Dionysus and of Mithras, that the same thing happened around the first century of the common era. All the myths are essentially the same, just with different characters and settings. A good analogy might be Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and Bernstein and Sondheim's West Side Story. The stories appear, on the surface, entirely different, but the same basic story runs through both.

The thing is, myths have holes in them. Mainly, the holes are due to the fact that the myth needs to encode certain things for the initiates, and too much filler can be confusing - initiates are expected to have their own experience of the truth as encoded in the myth. Such stories lack historicity. But the masses, taking the myths literally, desired for the stories to be historic in nature. In order for a myth to become a history, the holes have to be filled in.

That is what I think is happening within these forums, too, with some people who want to give the Oracle all the puppet strings, or who imbue the Architect with super powers of any sort. These people insist that Neo is part Machine, and that Morpheus' brain was 'rewritten' at birth to recognize the One. At best, it borders on silly, and at worst, threatens to change certain story elements already established on film.

I guess my point is, these movies are so mythic, so myth-like, that we really ought to treat them not as a history (even if a fantastical one) but as a myth, with deeper truths encoded within - as we have seen, there are some! Perhaps there are more. We aren't going to find them, however, if we add backstory or filler, unnecessary to the telling of the story, and distracting from the story that exists. We can, and should be encouraged to speculate, by all means, but my admonition is never to let speculation alter the story that exists on the screen.

You are totally on it man!

Very interesting thoughts and truths in what you’ve said. I believe truth can never be told, it has to be discovered... ‘you have to see it for yourself’. It seems that so many myths as you say try to get us to think/look more deeply into life to discover what their authors have, and is trying to be communicated through their art.

The Matrix is an enigma! A puzzle, and puzzled we are! But that’s good because it’s making us think and hopefully feel too.

Like you said and I’ve always maintained, we have to stay within the parameters of what is revealed and not add anything to it if we are to discover it’s teachings.

It can be hard as we want a quick answer, but we are going to have to wait, mull over the Pieces, feeling/identifying their truth, often universal in meaning and known within our hearts. Then, once having experienced many of these pieces we can begin to see where they fit together.

Then you begin to discover what is intended and written BETWEEN THE LINES.

And man is it worth it!

Frustrating part is, you can’t tell anyone! They have to see it for them selves!

It is genius though, a work of Art.

Big clue... Neo feels his way to the source, so must we!

Feel as in, not just intellect, but emotion and heart too, a whole being experience.

The Oracle knew it would take a specified love and not just general love to bring the one to his full potential in order to end the war. She plants the idea in Trinity, Morpheus, and Neo's heads. Morpheus will find the one, Trinity will fall in love with the One, Hey Neo, Trinity's got a crush on you. Same circumstances w/ the vase, would Neo have become the one had Morpheus and Trinity not been told what they were told and led Neo to believe he was the one?

Red Pill..........Anyone????
