[Matrix Reloaded] Seraph (after fighting with Neo): "I had to be sure." Neo: "Of what?" Seraph: "That you are The One." Neo: "You could've just asked."

All these theories, I was pleased to read them. But none of them really ment something. I saw the film about 50 times now. My theory is no theory but a simple way of life. The Matrix is all about spirituality. Neo is ourselfs, each and every one of us. Smith is the fear that lives in each and every one of us. You have to fight your fears to become stronger in life and eventualy become happy. Trinity stands for love pure and simple. You have to have love to become happy and overwin your fears. Maybe you can see becoming happy as 'complete' or 'awakened' or other spiritual defenitions. Or more true, living in truth, or your own reality, or in truth with yourself. The Oracel stands for a number of things. I think that the Oracle stands for our feelings, but more our intuition (our sixed sense), the architect for brains or intellect. Both must be in balance to become in truth with yourself.
I think everything in the Matrix means something on that level. The question, why is Neo blind on the end of the film? Has anybody any idea... I think I know.

What we see on the surface is an illusion of shadow. Neo's blindness allowed him to feel the spiritual and physical energy that resides within everything; the source.

First lets get the obvious stuff out of the way.
The matrix is just a film(full stop).
however we the affictionados as we are called by the
higher minds are still gathered in places like this in search of
answers. I like to think of us as the red pills the (ones)
tumbling down the rabbit hole.
I have had an amazing journey with the film hacking it to
pieces and there is always something new to find like
LOOK AGAIN: Holy sh*t twins.
Apart from all the fun things in the matrix there is a very
serious question that is posed by the matrix and that is
what is the matrix.
Is it religion, a mirror, gnostic, but none of that is important
because the matrix is everything and nothing. It is quantum. What matters for our world now is that a women by the
name of Sofia is claiming that her idea was stolen to make the film. More important then that is that she is now dubbed the oracle. The matrix reflects our world and then our world reflects the matrix. Let us not forget that the films ended with a prophecy that we can expect the return of the (one).
On wether sophias claims are true is not really important
whats matters is that she believes it. And if the matrix has
taught us anything it should be that all that matters is what we believe.
So what I am really getting at...
We are the reflection of the red pills, the (ones) who journey with the question, we have that splinter in our minds. So can one of us be the one. Does anyone believe that they are the one. What sort of power would the one have in our world, our matrix that is not set in a distant future.
What code would the one be able to read?
So I hope we can move forward and start a new search for
the one that is meant to bring freedom to us that are so
splintered. I spend a lot of time in many different forums like
this and I have seen a lot of Neos as a chosen matrix hacker name.
It is not the question that drives us but rather we are looking for him, the one that will free us from the question.
Many people were so dissapointed by the sequels to the
best sci fi of the last century, but everything happens for
a reason. There is a reason that we gather here, to be close
to people who are like us.

I did not see Reloaded and Revelutions at the cinema, because many people told me it was not worth it.
I liked Matrix 1 for the idea (as well as the well-done action movie) and it's OK for me if a film or a book leaves me with questions, that's often better than too many answers.
Recently, Reloaded was shown on German telly, and I watched it for the first time. It's much better than everybody said. Whereas the first film's idea was quite spiritual, the second film's idea, that Zion and the One are necessary to improve the Matrix is more of a sociological hypothesis. After watching the film, I found some sources on the net saying that the Wachowski brothers actually required the actors to read philosophical textbooks of Baudrillard and that they were much inspired by Hofstatter's book Goedel, Escher and Bach.
So, there's obviously many very different influcences to the trilogy, and I heard people that saw it as a Christian or Hindu film rather than a philosophical or Zen Buddhist one, and some others (maybe not that much) see it very simply as a good thriller.
I guess that's the most fascinating point after all - that the Matrix allows for so many different interpretations ...

Awesome powers to free people from the Matrix and a cat like ability to escape the terminal death sentence the Matrix holds for “The One.” *grin* Hopefully some awesome power like flight so they can show that the world works in far weirder ways than we have been previously thought. *laugh*

Anyone choosing Neo as their alias ends up being a poor candidate for “The One.” *laugh* Maybe the world works differently than you imagine. Perhaps the infinite universe theories of Quantum Mechanics have some truth to them and we all end up being “Ones” in our own version of reality. So to me it would seem best to search for “The One” on both the outside and the inside. If we all did that, then in each reality we would have a both the specified “One” and a full scale team of people to help whatever universe we find ourselves in. *smile*

Let me give you some advice about “The One.” If anyone claims that “I am The One” you can feel 100% certain that they are lying to you. Also, if they hold or bring a religion to you, they do not qualify. Make sure to look inside yourself as well, you may all be the “one” you seek.

Sorry your friends didn’t understand them. *grin* You should know better than to trust someone else’s judgment after liking the first film. *smile*

You definitely can see Dr Hofstadter’s influence on the films. They contain the same idea in many forms and the movie seamlessly moves from the meta level back down again. The layering of different meanings depending on what level you view the film certainly owes much to the Eternal Golden Braid. Honestly, I feel that if every human read that book, our world would change profoundly. The Matrix takes some of the scary concepts like Godel’s incompleteness theorem and encodes them in an easier to understand form, but the ideas remain. We all know about how this works because our human consciousness comes from one of these weird loops.
Let us hope that more being the journey towards true freedom. We’ll need all the help we can get.
