Why doesn't Smith call Neo "Neo"?

Guest

I've been thinking about the Matrix a lot lately,
I even wrote down a lot for myself, just to figure it out.
I'm not going to send that to you, merely because it is in Dutch, so you wouldn't understand. If you really want, I can see what I could do, with translating and gathering some Dutchpeople theories.

What I wanted to say right now:
In the section "More 's' than revolutions?" (matrix_within_a_matrix.htm)
A pointer here could be that the movie-name is The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
Where it for the humans (Zion) to win the battle... Then in a logical way the name should more be like "Zion Revolutions". When the humans win, there is no revolution for the Matrix, thus no Matrix Revolutions.

What I just started wondering today:
In Matrix 1 I still find a gap I can't explain or fill in.
After Neo followed the white rabbit, he is in the club talking to Trinity. After this you see him waking up and going to work.
What would have happened in the mean time??
Neo has been triggered by Morpheus for a long time and searching for him since. I would not expect him to easily go home and sleep after the conversation with Trinity that points out that Morpheus (and the Matrix) are real.
If that were me, I'd only make more effort in searching, knowing that my thoughts/ the rumours truely excist. But not Neo... no, he goes to sleep... Although he seems to snap awake and be suprised...

Other thought for the day:
M-In-M: Smith calles Neo ALWAYS "Mr. Anderson" Knowing his as Thomas Anderson/Neo the hacker, but also knowing him as Neo the "One"...
Why doesn't he call him just Neo?
But in this matter, more important: Morpeus and Trinity are also supposed to be freed from the Matrix at one time. So, they have a 'given' name. Why doesn't Smith call them by that name? or why don't we just know those names?
Is it because they are not freed at all? (never had given names?) are they programs with these names? are these names just never mentioned?

Oh, one more thing...
I just got to your "Graffity and Pictures" section
I myself discovered in the scene where Neo gets the earplug from Smith and fights with the agents (Matrix2). The only visible griffity here says: "MUZ 25:17"
It lead me to this: Matheus 25:17: "In the same way, the one who had two gained two more."
It seams to be leading to Smiths virus-spreading... It could also be a preview of Neo (the one) gaining the same power (in the same way) as Smith.
"the one who had two" is the same as 3

that's it,
tell me what you think

Again, I'm force to conclude this is perhaps too much significance given to a relatively easily-explained point.

When Smith first meets "Neo" he in fact meets "Mr. Anderson." That is the name to which he is introduced to "Neo." AND in fact, when Smith first encounters Neo, he is only interested in Neo as a means to get to Morpheus, who at the time is considered the most immediate concern.

Ergo, Smith is always speaking to the person he originally met, who is "Missssster Anderson."

Why doesn't Smith refer to Morpheus by his former name? It's entirely possible he never knew of his former name. Similarly, WE are never introduced to Morpheus by his former name.

Re: the Zion: Revolutions vs. the Matrix: Revolutions - once again, I don't think the combination of Matrix and Revolutions has much significance other than this is the second sequel to the movie, The Matrix. I think there might be some significance to the Revolutions subtitle, but I'm not sure what yet.

Maybe he does this to screw with his mind. To remind him that even though he can do the things that he does, he still remains an "insignificant human".

Agents are programmed to NEVER EVER address somebody as "The One" or similar. This would upvalue the person. Instead they address them always as "Mr..." and "Only human" etc

There is no matrix revolution if the humans win?

Yep, he did search and that's why he was late at work.

Could be also "MAT" instead of "MUZ". Good one!

I think this is to emphasize the dream like state Neo's life is in.

It could be Smith's way of reminding Neo that he is "still human".
(Anderson=son of Adam=human)

Or maybe it's because Neo wasn't the one until after he died in the first movie. The first thing Neo did after that was destroy Smith.
If the "something copied" was the 'one code', then to acknowledge Neo as the one would mean accepting his own 'oneness'. Or perhaps he has done so and believes himself to be the one of the prophecy.

Yep, I'd agree with the subtitle...

"Everything that has a beginning has an end"

notice (like on the poster) All of the sentence above is in CAPS,
except for a few letters

Will there be a secret message in the normal (no-cap) letters?

Because there is no other name known.

I think that he has the ability to call him Neo, in The Matrix, he says "In the other, you go by the hacker alias 'Neo'". I think him calling him Mr. Anderson is just because he's older than him and it's a sign of contempt for the younger, and more riotous Neo.

Characters often address and reference others characters in different ways. Smith obviously prefers to address him as Mr Anderson, but is aware that many characters will not recognize that name. In DBZ & DBGT Vegeta insists on calling Goku as Kakarotte all but once, while just about everyone else in the Universe calls him Goku.

Yeah, but he doesn't call Neo "Neo". He mentions "Neo" to another guy, not Neo himself.

What else should he say: "Bring these ear plugs to Mr.Anderson"?

Well, I'm a firm believer that since Neo approves of his alias more than his birth name, I *STILL* think Smith does it to annoy him

The Zionites always use their hacker names (unless they where born in the Real World) because their birth names where given to them by machines. By not using their Machine given names, they a 'rebelling' against the system.
