[Matrix Reloaded]
Lock: "I'm going to recommend to the Council that you be removed from duty"
Morpheus: "That is, of course, your prerogative, Commander."
Lock: "If it were up to me, Captain, you wouldn't set foot on a ship for the rest of your life."
Morpheus: "Then I am grateful that it is not up to you."

The Matrix Revolutions: The Final Insult

What is obvious is that The Matrix is not concluded with Revolutions. What is less obvious (or maybe not) is the reason it is such a bad movie. They say money is the root of all evil. This is an absolute truth. Why were Reloaded and Revolutions even made at all? They weren't doing it for a little bit of money. They were doing it for a shit load of money.

I have philosophized about the universe all my life. The Matrix is a contemporary presentation of basic philosophical ideas. It appeals to our instinctive search for meaning. Bringing these philosophies to the big screen in a visually stunning display was the only thing original about The Matrix. I had little knowledge of any previous philosophers. I saw this movie and was amazed that someone else could even imagine the same things that my brother and I would discuss about reality and choice.

The Matrix enthralled me as a high school student. I was well into college before Reloaded and Revolutions were released. There I was introduced to Descartes, Aristotle, Plato, and many other philosophers who predated the Wachowski brothers. The matter of reality is discussed in so many writings. The Allegory of the Cave is one of my favorite writings which addresses this issue. The matter of choice was certainly the most discussed philosophical issue before The Matrix was ever conceived. I was a staunch determinist: en.wikipedia.org... as a very young child. Of course, philosophy is not limited to its own department. I am now a firm believer in quantam physics: en.wikipedia.org... which is quite incompatible with determinism.

Why is this guy ranting on this forum? I just needed a place to vent my total disappointment in Revolutions which retroactively caused total disappointment in Reloaded, finally invoking the lex non scripta: Sequels Always Suck. I also wanted to share with anyone else feeling this disappointment some places where they could learn more about the theme of The Matrix: reality and choice. For much more satisfying universal philosophies, talk to a philosophy professor (they love this), visit the philosophy section of your local library, discuss your own philosophies with your brother (or friends or anyone). If you have not seen Reloaded and Revolutions yet (yeah right), do not see them. It will ruin all the fun you had dreaming up your own theories about The Matrix. If you have seen the movies, find a way to totally remove their content from your memory. If you find a way to do this, I would like to know about it.

Reloaded and Revolutions destroy The Matrix.

That's like, your opinion, man, and I don't agree with you. I love Reloaded and Revolutions and think they made M1 even better and the trilogy kicks the shit out of all other movies. And that is my opinion, man.

Where does this fit in with all of your European pseudointellectual bullsh!t and the Matrix. Most of that philosophical stuff was covered in good science fiction books. You could have read it in grammar school if the nitwit teachers had told you the right books.

Disliking Reloaded and Revolutions is your karma

ps - As for the money, yeah all these games and stuff is for turning Matrix fans into economic coppertops. They don't understand the real meaning of the movie they think is so great.

I just wanted to cut and paste those quotes here because, in my opinion, they represent the most of the sincere dissappointment with the sequels.

First of all, the Matrix was written to have three parts. Check it out, don't believe-me-or-not.

Next look at it from another angle. Yes, the Matrix (1), prompts you with choice (Oracle and Morpheus) and reality (Morph) and knowing yourself (Oracle, again). And it intrigues all of you who like talking about such things.

But Rel. prompts you to look at what to do with that knowledge and Rev. leaves it up totally to you, the viewer. And this is unfamiliar and uncomfortable territory for some. They just like talking about it, not doing...

In other words, M1 giving you perspective and showing you how to examine the system of control you may be in is just the beginning. It is not an end of itself, nor was it the intention of the writers to leave it at that. With M2 and 3, you are prompted to use that perspective to overcome the systems of control.

But that's not what many viewer's/philosophers are ready to do yet, is it, sport?

That's because it's time to stop dreaming up theories and wake up.

Special envoy Kofi Annan said Friday he was disappointed by President Bashar al-Assad's response to ideas for ending the bloodshed in Syria, and appealed to the UN to unite in its bid to halt the conflict.

A handout picture released by nike-air-jordan.org... the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA ) shows Syrian President Bashar al-Assad (right) meeting with UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan in Damascus on March 10. Annan said he was disappointed by Assad's response to ideas for ending the bloodshed in Syria, and appealed to the UN to unite in its bid to halt the conflict.

"The stronger and more unified your message nike-air-max-pascher.org..., the better chance we have of shifting the dynamics of the conflict," Annan was quoted as telling the 15-nation UN Security Council.

He also nike-air-max-pascher.net... told the council he was sending a mission to Damascus next week to discuss putting monitors in place even though he has had a "disappointing response" so far to his proposals from Assad, diplomats said.

The United Nations says some 8,000 people have died since opposition protests flared last March, but dissent monitors say the toll is closer to 9,100 lives nike-air-max90.net....

Speaking by video conference from Geneva, Annan briefed a closed-door meeting of the council about his talks with Assad in Damascus last weekend.

The former UN secretary general said his "six point proposals" to Assad remain on the table, but that he had "no illusions" over the scale of his mission as the uprising enters its second year.
Annan's spokesman, Ahmad Fawzi, speaking in Geneva, confirmed the plans for a mission to the Syrian capital air-max-soldes.net....

"Mr Annan has decided to send a mission to Damascus to discuss modalities of a monitoring mechanism and practical steps to implement other issues in Mr Annan's proposals, including an immediate cessation of the violence and the killing," Fawzi said.

On the ground acheternikechaussures.org..., thousands of anti-regime protesters Friday called for foreign military intervention to bring down the Syrian government. And the Syrian Observatory said at least 15 people were killed around the country on Friday.

The Syrian foreign ministry said in Damascus the government has vowed to cooperate with Annan, the special UN and Arab League envoy, while at the same time fighting "terrorism," its term for Syria's anti-regime revolt.
