[Matrix Reloaded]
Lock: "I believe I need every ship we have if we're going to survive this attack!"
Councillor Hamann: "I understand that, Commander."
Lock: "Then why did you allow the Nebuchadnezzar to leave?"
Councillor Hamann: "Because I believe our survival depends on more than how many ships we have."

I also think the kid will play a very important part, I've been supporting this idea in all my posts. But you know what? If he actually turned out to be "The One", then that would definitely piss me off big time!

I read an issue of EMPIRE magazine that had a large Matrix:Reloaded section in it. There was an section where they interviewed teh actor who plays "the kid". He seemed very sure that if there were going to be more films (not animations) after #3, that he'd be one of the principles in them.

I all read a bit cocky to me, and I thought at the time that it might be a careful bit of misdirection as well (I don't think any publicity around these films can be trusted).

However, if that were the case, then maybe the kid exists so that, even if they kill Neo off in #3 (heavens forbid!), they'll have a main character to hang a further series on.

Also, and maybe I'm wrong here, but wasn't he killed in #2? Didn't a dirty great steel girder fall on him when the sentinels attacked? Or have I (most likely) got two characters confused?

3Tooth <--I just wanted to put one of those smilies in there...hehe...
Anyway...on to the important stuff...
The Kid...
Let's face it...Neo, Neo, Neo, Neo...Its all about Neo...
And that is just what the Wach. Bros....or should I say Siblings now...want you to think...
I beleive that THE KID is going to be one of the biggest surprises of Revolutions...Remember...there are 2 big things that will be happening in Revolutions...Neo and the Matrix...and the fight to save Zion...now I think Neo is the bomb and all...but I think if I remember from Enter the Matrix...The path of the one is made of many...I think the Kid is going to realize that he has some powers of his own outside of the Matrix. See, remember all these unplugged people still carry machine code in their brains...See...all of the freed minds are really hybrids, which makes you also wonder...if they have destroyed Zion before, that really leaves none of the "real" human race left...since it would have to be hybrid human/machines that create so called pure-bred humans such as Tank, Dozer, and Link. So basically, you have a bunch of human/machine hybrids running around threatening the pure machine race...wow...didn't mean for that tangent to happen...just typing aloud. Anyway...about the kid...he could definately have powers...and if he proves to be nothing special, it will be (in my opinion) A HUGE LETDOWN...

You'll be let down if the Kid doesn't have some sort of hyper-important role to play?

I suppose that's your right and all.

However, I, and many others like me, will be very let down if we find out that this throwaway character, who only received a passing mention in the second movie, actually DOES have any real significance to the main plot lines.

I mean, really, why would you be any more upset at the Kid being "left out" than you would be any of the other characters in the Animatrix?

Well...yeah it would be a huge letdown...I mean I would probably get over it if the Wach. Siblings had a cooler plot...which they probably will...so I guess I will just wait and see...but its kinda like picking a team and rooting for them...I am picking the kid and rooting for him!

What does Reloaded have to do with it? Merovingian wasn't mentioned in Matrix 1 and had a bigger role in Matrix 2.

If Matrix 3 portraits the Kid according to his bigger role then everything is fine with me.

The problem lies somewhere else: The time of the movie.
It's only 128 minutes long, and thus shorter than Matrix 1. Thus there may be not enough time to "make a new character".

I think we can savely assume everyone knows the Kid... I mean.. he woke himself up from the matrix all on his own.. that must be some kinda special thing that everyone would know about.

There is a scene in one of the movie that looks like him giving a speech were morpheus did. Now if you think about it there are more then just two parts to the story.... you have Neo out doing his stuff with trinity and morpheus and then the military generals and stuff running the show in Zion to protect it... but what about the normal inhabitants of the matrix? They have no one to guide them while this whole war goes on. Perfect time for Kid to stand up and calm the masses or explain the future as he sees it.

I hate the Kid, but it seems he has some significance to M3. The orchestral score to M3 is now available on the p2p networks, track 10 is titled "KidFriend", you can see the tracklisting at amazon and other sites that have the CD ready for preorder.

Other hints might be gleaned from the other track names, such as #15 Spirit of the Universe, I'm sure theorists can spin that title any way they want. Cool Listening to the music is great, but I haven't been able to jump to any further conclusions based on what I heard. It's all very climactic of course, something big must happen... hehe

Though I still REALLY don't think that the Kid is the true one...in the Bible, John the Baptist is the "predecessor" to Jesus. And although John wasnt Jesus...he could still perform miracles and he did so many that people thought he WAS Jesus. In the Matrix, Neo does some incredible things, but maybe it's just a sign of things to come...oh and John was older than Jesus (just a random though)

there's a 15 minute behind the scenes at M3 special showing on HBO this weekend, it includes a scene with the Kid I hadn't seen anywhere else or mentioned here. The Kid is requesting to join the defense corps, and Commander Locke is giving him a grilling a la Full Metal Jacket. So he's got some lines, and apparently will be in the 20 minute zion brawl fighting at some point. Maybe he'll die there and we won't have to see him til the reboot! Very Happy

Facts and Figuratives:
-Kid is self-substanciated.
-In Revolutions, he gives a "sermon on the mount."
-It has been said that he will be super bad-mamma-jamma in the fight to save Zion from invasion.
-The Kid epidsode was one of the few written by the Wachowski Brothers themselves.
-Kid didn't save Neo from Bane. Watch again. Neo turns around before Kid gets there or call out. Bane throws his knife arm(with the cut hand[testing sharpness?] behind his back, and leaves. Enter Kid and "Real World" spoon gift. Does anyone disagree after watching again?

Animatrix and Kid

Hey, my tenth post!

I just watched the Animatrix for the first time...it opens a whole new world of possibilities, doesn't it? So the Kid frees himself because he totally Believes in (what? Neo?) when he drops himself from the roof. The One was the one who freed the first minds, as Morpheus says in M1, which means he must have either been outside the Matrix, or able to eject himself. Also, the Athlete from the Animatrix is, in some way, ejected from the program. Is there a connection between him and the Kid? Why is everyone so upset about the Kid having a big role in Revolutions? I think he's a great character. Have some faith in the Wachowskis.

If he is the One, he needs to be in love. I really think it all boils down to the love between Trinity and Neo, and that is what gives Neo his strength. The climaxes (no pun intended) of both films have come when either Trinity or Neo has had the power to save the other because their love is so strong. the Kid needs some lovin', if he's going to be the One after, or instead of Neo. (Just my opinion, of course).

I think that the kid will play a bigger role in Revolutions, I dont think its gonna be as important as something like the One, but he will be important some how. If any of you watched the M1 on TBS tonight (nov. 3) it had some stuff on Revolutions that I hadnt seen anywhere esle, it shows the kid in one of those big machine thing-a-ma-jigs that have the big guns and what not. *drools* only 2 more days, I CANT FREAKIN WAIT! Well like they say "it all comes down to choice". The Architect also mentions about how "people" would accept the Matrix if they were given a choice. Are we sure that electing to die isn't a choice that gets you into the "Real World"?

They talked in the first film about the Red Pill, that lets them lock on to Neo's signal... perhaps though it is also a voluntary choice and the pill contains something a little more lethal?

Maybe everyone dies just a little in order to get out of the Matrix (or at least the simulation part vs. the "real world").

Also think about Mero's discussion that he won't give them the keymaker because they don't know why they want him. Maybe getting out of the Matrix is the same thing. Jumping off a bridge because you're depressed won't get you out. But Jumping because you elect to leave the Matrix might result in what happened to the Kid.

Just my 2 testicles.

Like that about the Red pill making the taker die a little, in M1 we're told it's to "disrupt the input/output carrier signal", and what better way than if it was to kill them a little. Would also explain why the machines aren't too bothered about ejecting woken up humans out of the battery plant when they wake up.
I bet the WB's love this site, between everyone on this forum we've pretty much covered every aspect of the plots from every single angle. Pretty sure there's nothing left uncovered now from the first two movies.

the title to track number7 on the soundtrack as listend on the matrix website is "KIDFRIED" not KID FRIEND. which means he's gonna be fried, but I dont believe he'll die, or maybe he will. It sounds like kinda like a fight of some sort.

Anyway I can't wait my 10:55 to watch him fry.
