»Time Backward/Forward«

I noticed this before, but it has just come to my attention:

In M1, when Neo gets on the side of a building in one of the first scenes, we see three shots of the street and traffic. Each shot seems to have a different time-direction

1. "Why is this hapenning to me" - we see a street with traffic driving on the left side of the road, maybe in Sydney.
2. Short frame just before the wind - we see a still image of the traffic from another angle.
3. Mobile phone falling down - we see a reverse shot of traffic

Now, the most important is the third shot. We can clearly see the arrows on the road, and the traffic flow orientation to the left. But the cars on the street seem to be moving on the right side, or going backward.

I can see two explanations:

1. They didnt want to expose that the movie was filmed in Australia, so they made it look like the traffic is moving on the right side, by using this cheap illusion effect.

2. Perhaps indirectly give evidence that the time sometimes flows backwards in the matrix. I dont yet know the relevance of this idea but it would be linked to M2 oracle's line "You are looking at the world without time".

I havent seen/noticed any similar shots in m1 or m2 but its worth paying attention on slowed scenes, or even bullet time.

Well, it is an interesting observation. The perception of time and reality is going to dilute into some sort of virtuality. Or think of the so-called Deja vu in M1: The matrix has been manipulated - Time gets out of sync.

The question is: What remains significant when time and 'reality' fades? Faith, Love and Hope - Do you think that is one of the most important messages conveyed by the movies?

maybe that scene is just the first time neo experiences his power as the "one." he's about to fall to his death or at least is scared he will, and like a reflex his powers pop out and screw with time. kinda like what happens when an 11year old girl lifts a car off a parent using adrenaline.

Since the phone is falling down (and not up) I assume that they wanted to un-Australia-lize the traffic, to make look more like in the "land of the free"
