The Merovingian, the building, and the door of light

OK, where do I begin

Merovingian: The Mero told Neo that he is a traffiker of information. This got me thinking... The Trainman is the one who transports information from the Matrix to the Machine World (as it is said in an article on thematrix.com in the communcations page), and from the revolutions trailers we may assume that Neo has been captured by the Mero. Then it would make sense that the Trainman works for the Merovingian, which could account for the Trainman's presence in the Hell Club (a picture that is in this forum somewhere suggested this). Whoa..... Whatthe

The Building: When Morpheus and crew are on their way to meet the Mero, Neo said that the building is wired with explosives. Later, the Keymaker said that the building leading to the Source would blow up if they did not disable the power grid. This leads me to believe that the Mero's restaurant "Le Vrai" (which means "The Real" in french) is in the same building that Neo escapes from on his way to catch the falling Trinity. This may also explain why the Mero and Persephone have moved from the restaurant to the Hell Club. Whoa..... Whatthe

The Door of Light: In Greek (and I am sure in other languages as well), Light represents knowledge. When Neo opens the Door bathed in Light, this is a metaphor of him being prepared to aquire knowledge. The Architect himself is also dressed in White (White = Light), which depicts that he is knowledgable and so on.... you get the idea.

There's a cookie for you to chew on. Responses anyone?

er...you kind of lost me...but if the arcitect is in white and is the god because he is the creator......then neo in black could represent the devil.......or maybe their roles are switched thus making the whole light/dark thing totally wrong

Are you referring to the third topic? What I am saying is that Light represents knowledge, not disposition (ie. good or bad). And White "may" represent enlightment, that's all. In no way does this mean that the Architect is good or bad, just that he is knowledgable.

does black then represent forgetfullness?
or not wanting to believe the truth?
notice everyone in the oracle's apartment is wearing white except for Neo and Morpheus.
Neo is in denial (bullshit!) and Morpheus believes a load of crap, mabey this is symbolic then.

I don't know if black represents anything other than anarchy. Are you (and by "you" I mean all of you) going to discuss the symantics of clothing here or are you actually going to discuss the other topics raised in the initial post? Has anyone thought about the Merovingian, the Trainman connection, or the building? I hope I didn't waste cyber space posting something that would entice debate over clothing.

I know this is just Semantic Antics, but "La Vrai" means "the Truth."
"Le Reel" means "the Real." In French, that is.

All of the above observations have merit. However, I think if the Buildings were the same, a comment would have been made by our friendly-neiborhood-freedom-fighters. Since none was made, I believe that rigging a structure with explosives is just a common machine fail-safe, since the programs will be reloaded in Mobil Ave(limbo ave) and the humans will simply perish. If the Mero is boyz with the TrainMan, then why would he ever be afraid of "death"? Perhaps you lose enough memories that it would be far too inconvenient?

The "Door of Light" is a masonic metaphor for entering the highest degree of understanding. This is one of the reasons I find it hard to believe that the Architect would lie.

Well, first, some more semantic antics en français:

Le vrai could translate as "The Real", probably more easily than "Le réel." Not to quibble, but if we're going to wipe our asses with silk, we may as well do it accurately. "The Truth" in french is la vérité. Le vrai is something bigger: The True, all of it, which is what I think is meant in the Matrix by "The Real."

Thumbup In any case, right on about the door of light/architect/masonic connection. Some friends and I were just noting the similarity between all this and Matthew Barney's Cremaster #3.

You made a good observation HolEavataR....I believe there's a meaning as to why Neo mentions that it looks like the building is wired with explosives. Maybe you're right and it is the same building.

Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is...You have to see it for yourself.
