Revolutions may clear things up more but here are my thoughts right now.
1)Neo's Boss: (at work) tells Neo (when he's late) "You don't like authority... You think the rules don't apply to you." This hints to Neo's characteristics.
Neo is not accepted by the other humans in AI. I don't know if there is anything significant about Neo's boss yet. If he had a name it would probably sound like "nobody." Maybe it's just that this kinda boss is the most typical example of simple minded conformity, thus promoted to be like a cattle herder. If anything maybe the boss introduces the audience to the fact that structure is an important aspect of the movie, resulting in all the references we find.
Also, I just had a thought that maybe his boss is like one of the "grays" or whatver, space aliens that some people think hold these higher positions. In theory, they would want to remain anonymous, so they would want to fire someone with the intellect to blow their cover.
2)Neo's Book: When getting the "discs?" from the hole in his book; the Book is titled "Simulacra & Simulation" I looked up Amazon for a similar book and their is one by Author Baudrillard;
[Baudrillard] shows us that reality no longer exists, and has been replaced by simulacra via the process of simulation, creating what he calls the "hyperreal".
What is also interesting is from the text itself:
Baudrillard writes:
"The real is produced from miniaturized cells, matrices, and memory banks and models of control, and it can be reproduced an indefinite numbers of times from these." ---- sounds very familiar.
This sounds very interesting, and it makes me want to buy the book. Or at least find out if the movie idea came from that book... this may or may not be the case, as it is probably standard film technique to include a book in the movie that seems relevant to the plot. Where did the idea really come from?
3)Neo's File: When Agent Smith opens Neo's file you can see the following:
Name: Thomas A. Anderson
Date of Birth: 11 March 1962
Father: John Anderson
Mother: Michelle McGaney (It was hard to see this name)
The year of birth might not mean much, but the day 3-11 looks pertinent. 11 was used because Neo is The One. 3 was chosen maybe because there are 3 letters in Neo's name. I'm seeing a lot of other symbols with 3 characters in the movies too. Being from the midwest I've always thought of March as a powerful month in that it is the time of year that the dead of winter is overcome.
4)The Architect is watching: When Neo is in the interrogating room; the first scene is of the Architects many tv screens watching Neo - then the camera goes "through" the tv sceen into the room just like in Revolutions. I've decided that this is the Architects tv's because a security booth wouldn't have 9 tv screens monitoring the same room.
Cool. I wonder what the function of the Architect's TVs are. Maybe interfaces with the humans in the matrix. I think that the Architect is at the top of the food chain among the AI in the matrix, and he most specifically needs Neo to survive. That's why the Architect did not try to kill Neo. My assumption is that Neo is like the Architect's conscience, and a way of reminding the AI what humans need to remain complacent while their in AI.
5)Red & Green: In both Matrix 1 and Revolutions everything seems to be made up of shades of Red or Green... signs, walls, cars, clothing etc. (this is obviously the chosen "style" of the movie)
Red and Green, like stop and go stoplights.
6)Choice: Try and count how many times the word "choice" or "choose" is said in Matrix 1...
Humans can make these choices. Computers can't make any choices. That's why the computers need Neo.
7)Jesus Reference: The man at Neo's door says "Your my own personal JC", when Cypher finds out Morpheus told Neo is was The One he replied "JC - what a mind job." , When Neo is fighting Smith Trinity says "JC, he's killing him."
I think Neo is like God in Jesus for to the machines, because humans created AI originally. I don't think the writers would imply Neo is like Jesus to the humans. I think the former makes more sense logically.
Thanks for the observations.
