Blood in the Matrix

While watching Reloaded for the second time, one thing really surprised me. So much fighting, specially with swords and weapons, like in the "Castle on the Mountain" fight scene, yet no blood( except fo Neo's hand). I mean, when you see Neo mashing that guy with the big spikey thing, you expect to see blood fly all over. But there is no blood. That got me wondering, why would the directors not want blood in fight scenes. It wouldn't affect the rating, as it already is rated R. I suddenly realized that blood could have more significance than apparent. Here's why:

I can only remember two scenes where blood is shown inside the matrix:
1) Neo's hand when he blocks the sword
2) Trinity, when she's shot by the agent

Before the Smith-infected Bane tries to assault Neo, he cuts his own hand. Could this mean he wants to make sure he's in the real world? Does he want to feel what bleeding is like? What meaning does the cutting have?

Well, please comment. I know it's probably not relevant, I just wanted to share my thoughts.

You've forgotten about when Trinity shoots one of The Brothers in the arm when she is trying to escape with the Keymaker and Morpheus, in the underground parking garage.

Guys, Agents DO bleed. We see this in the highway scene when Morpheus cuts Agent Johnson (I think it's Johnson) with his samurai sword across the right cheek. This I think proves that bleeding is not something only humans do, but that it is programmed in programs as well. This perhaps could give those who believe that Neo is a program more steam to run with, but so be it.

I think it's more to do with the colour red than blood. The red things are all significant in some way. (kinda like Schindler's List)
The Red Pill
The woman in red
The Oracle's candy
Ship captains wear red

Blood isn't seen much in the movie, except for important bits, like the blood running down the computer screen before the ship blows up. Trinity coughs up blood just before she dies.

Neo's blood drops down. The agents just bleed.

Alright, but that still doesn't explain why neo bleeds in the sword scene. He can do all those othere things, basically almost invincible, yet he starts to bleed when he stops the sword. He can stop bullets but not swords?

I may not always be right, but I am never wrong!

he stopped the sword but he is not 'the man of steel'

if you can say that neo is still 'flesh' inside the matrix, then he either has not built himself up enough to be 'unstoppable' inside the matrix but more than this it shows his vulnerability which will be shown more in Revolutions

'he is still only human'
'he is just a man'

meaning he can be hurt and killed though maybe not by conventional means

what is neo's weakness, his kryptonite?

There is also the matter of the Agent that fights Morpeus in M2, in the Highway scene...Morpheus cuts the Agents face and he bleeds...

I feel that when the Matrix was programmed, "flesh" will have been programmed to bleed, it would be strange if you cut yourself, or whatever and you didn't bleed...

I think the Architect would have thought about every eventuality!!!! Cool

Firstly I would like to say that whoever started this thread and said he didn't see any blood in the scenes is obviously blind because we have posted about 20 blood scenes lol!

Most importantly i think agent smith cut himself (when he was Bane) merely to see if the knife was sharp.
