If the Matrix [computer world] was so intellegent, why didn't they send the Trainman [obviously pretty powerful] after Smith? They also had the resources to actually leave the planet and 'live' in peace on another planet? Was the plan just to enslave the humans period? Could they have not computed some other way to create energy? How was Smith still so powerful without the backing of the Matrix?

Smith was made with huge power by the architect as a reaction to Neo. Smith's power is the other side of the equation to counter Neo's and as a result he ends up growing more powerful than the architect intended.

So who was it that Neo made the peace pact with? I thought the architect was the co-creator [along with the Oracle] of the Matrix? And if this thing was so powerful, even more so than the architect, why it needed Neo to take care of Smith? Would Smith have been more powerful than the Matrix itself?

the only thing that made Smith remarkable was his interaction with Neo and his refusal to face deletion. the same thing could have happened to Agents Jones or Brown.

once he was unplugged, he wasn't bound by the rules of the system anymore. his powers come from the basic Agent engine (taking voer bodies) and replication came after, as a by-product.

his massive power in M3 came from the replication...if Smith is everyone, then the Matrix is HIS world, thus he can do what he wants in it.

The trainman was not under the control of the system. He is an exile program like the Merovingian. He only has control over mobil station. MOBIL is and antigram for LIMBO. He represents the boatman who ferries the dead across the river styx to the underworld ruled by Hades (Merovingian).

Do they? What would they survive on during their intersteller journey? space is a cold and dark place and it would take them centuries to travel to another star system. They do not travel faster than light. they also probably travel using some kind of propultion that requires and atmosphere such as a plane uses. they could not travel in the vacuum of space. Human batteries was the most practical solution to the problem.

His interactions with Neo evolved him in a simular fashion to Neos own evolution. He is Neos Dark side. together they are the true one. Once combined they formed the true one that brought an end to the war as the oracle predicted.

Smith wasnt able to copy Neo in Revolutions. Neo allowed it to happen. It was the ultimate sacrifice for Zion. It represents Christs sacrifice on the cross for mankind to be free of sin. The act of the sacrifice is what ultimately destroys Smith

I thought more people would ask about how it is even possible that the Architect could give Smith Power (Resurrection/Non-deletion) but still become an uncontrollable threat within the parameters of the Matrix the Architect designed. It is my belief that the Neo cycle also represents the self-awareness of Artificial Intelligence within the world of A.I. I refer to it as the Ghost in the Machines Machine theory. Due to the unpredictable nature, growth potential, and access of this internal machine evolution, it acts more like a virus within a system designed for mathematical precision and predictability. This theory was inspired by one of the Matrix comics where a computer scientist is killed just before releasing A.I. within the matrix by agents. It dawned on me then that the system considered software outside of the existing parameters a serious threat at any level (ala Sati needing the Merovingan, Trainman, Seraph etc.). A.I. within the matrix has the potential to be powerful beyond the Architects control.

How did the Architect create the Matrix if he lives in it? I thought the Machines created the Matrix to harvest humans. Who created the programs, the the machines know of the programs?

Between the lines of the story, like when Persephone wants a sample kiss from Neo, it has dawned on me that the machines and programs are really dependent on the humans for a deeper reason: gaining the human ability for feelings and love [emotional intelligence], as part of their evolution. It becomes explicit with the Indian couple that sacrifices themselves for their love child Sati. But to keep the human genetical pool alive, there must be a Zion of some sort, (for the human need of liberty). Thus, if the machines would move, it would have to be a planet like the Earth, so maybe not worth the hussle moving to another planet.

There came a scientific result a few years ago were boffins actually showed that the strength of reason is actually reduced when feelings are reduced.

So I believe programs were actually gaining more emotional intelligence, and Neo kinda figured that out, which is why the Oracle could leak it to him: "And believe me, I know - the only way to get there [the future] is together"
