I noticed something in the first matrix. When Neo is in the interrogation room, we start with a camera panning closer into a wall of tv screens that look suspiciously simillar to those in the Architects room. Also, the screen does that color warble thing that happens when someone looks into the matrix from a screen elsewhere.

Does this have significance? If so, what? Was the Architech watching Neo from the beginning? If so, does this implies that he does not have direct control over the agents, or he did not know Neo was the one? Or is it just a coincidence?

thoughts?

Yup, i reckoned they were the same screens. I doubt there is any real significance to it all though, but it is certainly a nice touch that emphasised the intervention of the architect (or lack thereof) in film 1.

These scenes show, that the Wachowskis planned the role of the Architect all along. Thus Reloaded is continuation and not an add-on of Matrix 1

yes thats one thing I noticed going back to the first film after watching the second film.

It wasnt a case of "hmmm, lets make up a new story for a sequel". Even if they werent sure that they would make other matrix movies, its obviously they had a greater story in mind when they made the original.

Ya Matrix Revisit talks all about how they presented Warner Bros with a trilogy and wanted to direct it.. and the guy was like "umm first we need to convince them to let you direct.. we will have to worry about one film at a time"

I dont they had much of a choice with LoTRs

Peter Jackson: "I want make the lord of the rings trilogy!"

studio: "ummm... I dunno about that. Lets just do one"
