[Matrix Reloaded]
Lock: "I'm going to recommend to the Council that you be removed from duty"
Morpheus: "That is, of course, your prerogative, Commander."
Lock: "If it were up to me, Captain, you wouldn't set foot on a ship for the rest of your life."
Morpheus: "Then I am grateful that it is not up to you."

Did the Wachowskis really direct the major %age of 2 and 3?

Watch Bound and the original Matrix. Then watch the sequels. The directing styles are totally(and quite obviously) different, except for a few scenes in the sequels(for example, the Oracle meeting, the car chase, the talk with the Merovingian(in Reloaded.)

Their style and influence seems to be incredibly minor in the sequels. It doesn't feel like the Wachowskis directed the movie. Go to IMDB and look at the crew list for Reloaded and Revolutions. Look at the number of assistant directors! Who on Earth -needs- that many?

I mean, honestly, the script doesn't flow, the scenes don't flow, there's a bunch of boring, ultra cheesy soap opera cliche moments. I don't think the Wachowskis had a FINGER in the Zion sequences. They have none of their coolness, pacing, or direction(in general.) There's not much energy in this movie. Just for a quick refresh, look at everyone's faces in the first movie. Their eyes in particular. They're all wide eyed and(presumably and understandly so if true) excited. Now look at how everyone acts and looks in the sequels. They look tired. Bored, perhaps. Their eyes are always droopy. If you notice, throughout many of the scenes that feel like they were directed by the Wachowskis that did Bound and MX1, the actors have that same wide-eyed look from the first movie. Look at Morpheus when he is fighting the Agent on the Truck. Its really the only moment where he truly feels like the same Morpheus from MX1, not the stereo-typed, "slogging through for money" Morpheus.

Interestingly enough, Hugo Weaving said he only got on the movie cause he wanted his own action figure, and that in the behind-the-scenes on the Reloaded DVD, all the actors said they joined without looking at the script.
Oh yeah, and one of the best characters from MX1(tank) left. I heard two rumors about that: 1, he grabbed Joel Silver's lunch from the cast and crew fridge, and 2, he wanted more money than he got in the first movie(I would've paid him.)

And of course, it definitely doesn't help that Gloria Foster died from diabetes(where the Hell was her tribute in the Ultimate Collection?)

The Wachowskis haven't EVER done any interviews for the sequels. If I remember correctly, Andy once said that they didn't feel it was their right to interview for something that wasn't theirs. I heard they even signed a contract not to do any interviews. Ever notice it is always Joel Silver talking about the sequels? The Wachowskis aren't even in the ultimate collection talking about the sequels. They did write a letter, but that's it.

Someone with connections has gotta know the answer to this. Post anonymously if you can(if you need to.) if you know the answer to this question.

Was there a falling out? Did Larry's sex change have something to do with it? Did they just party too hard and let Hollywood(Also known as Joel Silver in this case) totally take over and ruin the style? (And it's not the Sophia Stewart thing. I researched that. Its just a hopeless cash grab.)

There is an explanation for this. The Matrix 1 wasn't a fluke. Bound has the same qualities.

I told myself that the answer is out there, it's looking for me, and it'll find me if I want it to.

Well, here I am wanting it to.

Find me, answer!

Thank you.

There are plenty of Wachowski-esque moments in all 3 of the Matrix movies.. their visual flair is undeniably present in both the sequels even if not everyone enjoyed the pacing and plot direction the movies took. The reason for the assistant directors is simple.. the size and scale of the movies. The creative aspect of the direction is already secured during the process of pre-vis and storyboarding which is conducted with the full participation of the Wachowskis.

I think you need to stop being so sceptical about the whole thing! Surely, you realise that Hugo Weaving's comments were said with tongue firmly in cheek? I actually thought that if you watch the interviews with the cast members, you can see that they are all fiercely proud of what they all took part in. As for Marcus Chong, who played Tank in M1.. he WAS offered more money than he was paid in M1.. but he requested an even higher fee to reprise his role in the sequels.. the studio and the Wachowskis made it clear to him that they couldn't pay him that much and basically replied back saying thanks, but if you're gonna be asking that much we don't need you in it anymore. This sparked off a rather nasty row which resulted in Marcus Chong losing his temper and making threatening phone calls to the studio and the studio in return trying to get him arrested by allegedly submitting photos of him brandishing a gun but was actually taken from a movie he had been in!

The Wachowskis did indeed have a contract clause to avoid partaking in interviews, but that is probably just due to their dislike for playing the media game. I think they also like the idea that their reclusiveness adds an air of mystery to them and their work.

I do agree that Gloria Foster did deserve a tribute in the boxset though...

I agree with Grub, the sequels (especially Revolutions) does not have the "Wachoski touch", they did their best to direct it as much as possible but when you take a look at the how big the movie making was, I doubt that they didn't use a lot of help to shot less important scenes.

I agree that the battle of Zion was boring and way too long, they should have invested more money to make the superbrawl really super.

The reason why the last 2 films are so different is because they first Matirx started to be shot in 97. Reloaded and Revolutins started back in 2001, because of the new technology it looks different. They had to add in more assistant directors to help, because they had a certain amount of time in which to do Enter The Matrix, Reloaded, and Revolutions (its pretty tough to follow up on all that with time being an important factor to the schedule). I know for a fact that the first assistant director took lead in directing some portions of the last 2 films, but all in all The Wachowskis did have the final dicision on everything.

And yes I do infact dress in black casual clothing with my shades on looking to shoot people with my two 9s.

bazoom!

Special envoy Kofi Annan said Friday he was disappointed by President Bashar al-Assad's response to ideas for ending the bloodshed in Syria, and appealed to the UN to unite in its bid to halt the conflict.

A handout picture released by nike-air-jordan.org... the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA ) shows Syrian President Bashar al-Assad (right) meeting with UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan in Damascus on March 10. Annan said he was disappointed by Assad's response to ideas for ending the bloodshed in Syria, and appealed to the UN to unite in its bid to halt the conflict.

"The stronger and more unified your message nike-air-max-pascher.org..., the better chance we have of shifting the dynamics of the conflict," Annan was quoted as telling the 15-nation UN Security Council.

He also nike-air-max-pascher.net... told the council he was sending a mission to Damascus next week to discuss putting monitors in place even though he has had a "disappointing response" so far to his proposals from Assad, diplomats said.

The United Nations says some 8,000 people have died since opposition protests flared last March, but dissent monitors say the toll is closer to 9,100 lives nike-air-max90.net....

Speaking by video conference from Geneva, Annan briefed a closed-door meeting of the council about his talks with Assad in Damascus last weekend.

The former UN secretary general said his "six point proposals" to Assad remain on the table, but that he had "no illusions" over the scale of his mission as the uprising enters its second year.
Annan's spokesman, Ahmad Fawzi, speaking in Geneva, confirmed the plans for a mission to the Syrian capital air-max-soldes.net....

"Mr Annan has decided to send a mission to Damascus to discuss modalities of a monitoring mechanism and practical steps to implement other issues in Mr Annan's proposals, including an immediate cessation of the violence and the killing," Fawzi said.

On the ground acheternikechaussures.org..., thousands of anti-regime protesters Friday called for foreign military intervention to bring down the Syrian government. And the Syrian Observatory said at least 15 people were killed around the country on Friday.

The Syrian foreign ministry said in Damascus the government has vowed to cooperate with Annan, the special UN and Arab League envoy, while at the same time fighting "terrorism," its term for Syria's anti-regime revolt.
