Everyone asks inconsequential questions,...
while ignoring the bigger picture.
Here's what i think
The oricle is tired of fighting an endless war. She wants the next anomaly (neo) to be different. This time she wants the war to end.
I think she wrote the program smith. After smith was destroyed by neo in the first matrix, she brought him back into the matrix.
how and why?
How is easy, she convinced the marovingean that smith would destroy neo, and in turn the marovingean agreed to send smith into the matrix on the train.
Why, because she needed to create a REAL threat to the machine world. Not the same old threat the other 5 anomalies brought. This time the machines would have to bargain because the threat wasn't the same old "return to the source and choose 7 men and 16 women to rebiuld zion" story.
The reason we hear the story of neo vs. the other 5 anomalies is because this time the cards were played differently.
The architecht says "you played a dangerous game"
The Oricle replies "Change always is"
maybe i'm an idiot
what do you think?

while i don't want this to come off as standoffish,

1) this is in the wrong forum. this goes in the Theories forum, because the question you're asking is "do you agree or not?" while presenting a theory.

2) this is already (more or less) addressed several times. in the right hand upper corner, there is a search function. check it out.

Agree.

Not pretty sure what you mean here?

Agree as well. What's really going to bake your noodle is: Why? Why would she want to help humans? I mean, she's a program. You can read a thread on The Oracle I started here:

I have to say you have a well thought theory here. It's very interesting, and it's one of my favorites now. Thumbup

This piece of dialogue from Reloaded makes a whole different sense now:

Quote:

Merovingian: But fear not, since I have seen how good you are at following orders, I will tell you what to do next. Run back, and give the fortune teller this message: Her time is almost up.

I'm pretty sure that everyone interpreted this as The Merovingian threatening to kill The Oracle, but after reading what you posted above, It made me think, and I realized that it might also mean that her time to comply with her part of the deal is almost up.

It also made me think a lot about the things The Merovingian says in Revolutions. They make more sense now. But I'll post them later on.

Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is...You have to see it for yourself.

Could it be possible that SMITH was the newly created program in the last Matrix?

I mean on par with SATI?
I am still wondering why he called her MOM. Or was that just him being his wonderfully sarcastic self? Cool

I thin its because she is the mother. I dont care if its allready been discussed its my theory damnit. The mother of the matrix i dont know but the mother of smith, more of a maybe. I guess i really dont have much to say.

oscargabrielp ans i are deffinitly on the same page.
I read your previous post and I agree wholeheartedly.
I think the Oracle is the center of the entire plot. She has planned the outcome from the beginning.

oscargabrielp, when i said she wanted this time to be different, i meant that she developed a plan to make the outcome of the latest anomaly (who happens to be neo) totally different. By manipulating the situation she can foresee the outcome of the equasion is different this time.

Let me say that this is a place i have searcked for for some time.
people to discuss the endless list of questions i have about the best movies i have ever seen.
Stimulating cinema is refreshing isn't it.

i spent 4 hours reading all the past posts i could about everything i could find, in no particular order, before i even made my first post.
As I read the replies in this thread and follow the links to past articles, I realize I have read most of them before. Using the ideas from past posts helped me to build a better structured understanding.

There is evidence that the Oracle actually was surprised that Neo did what he did.
She says in Rel.
"You've made a believer out of me"

I think she had a plan, but she knew that in the end, everything was Neo's choice.
Her role is to give Neo the possibility to make the choices.

matrix reloaded:

oracle: Seems like every time we meet I've got nothing but bad news. I'm sorry about that, I surely am. But for what it's worth, you've made a believer out of me. Good luck, kiddo.

it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice
