»BBC's Horizon suggests Matrix a possibilty?«

Hi everyone, I'm BluePill, a forum newbie who loves The Matrix and it's premise ! This is my first post...

Just before I got online tonight, I was thinking how utterly possible it is, that "we" are in fact nothing more than an advanced computer game, albeit a very sophisticated one, some form of a MMORPG environment like EverQuest, being played by ultra-advanced beings.... And why not ?

Just look at what we can do today with Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Sims games, it shouldn't be that hard for an advanced enough civilization to "program" characters who think they are real in every sense. After all, that is the whole premise of "The Matrix", we know how close we are to making those kinds of simulations, actually that really scares me because there is no reason I can think of, why this could not be possible !

bluepill, answer your own question by being pragmatic about it. there is indeed another complex interpretation of what we define as the world. seeing it does not involve the 5 senses but rather a silent knowledge that is part of what we are.

Do not think like that. I thought the same thing and my family threw me in the psche ward no B.S. It seems so possilby but trust me it's no use thinking that we live in a real-life Matrix. Just enjoy the movies and the online game. I thought I was the 'One' but I wasn't about to wait for my next life to find out. Maybe watching too much Matrix mixed with marijuana and alcohol had something to do with that. Nope this is the real world no machines have us hostage or nothing like that. But man it does seem so possibly. Morpheus said it best, "You know something what you know you can't explain, that there's something world with the world. You've felt it your whole life, it's like a splinter in your mind driving you mad. It's this feeling that brought you here." Don't know if that's word for word but you get my point, it drove me mad, crazy, insane but I'm pretty sane I just got caught up in the movies which are extremely great.

Hey I'm no "fake" Merovingian. If anything I would have been Smith. But I'm all about the One. This is real life just thought I'd let BluePill know that. I found out the hard way!

I hear you Jermaine, I wasn't referring to you, what I meant in my comment is that in the "Matrix" there is a "program" called Merovingian, but that I'm more worried about the "real" ones out here, in our "perceived" real world causing all kinds of trouble for the sake of a brave new world ;-}

So if we all agree that we could be in a matrix, how could we prove it or come to that conclusion? The people that get out are intuitive, sensative, and have a questioning nature, which would postulate that those qualities are in the real world and thus brings them to the conclusion that they are in a matrix. That's just going by the movies though. But, If we did figure out that we were in a matrix in the matrix, what would we do? da da da da de dum

jermaine, just because you have not found anything or given up your search doesnt mean others should do the same. why do you think they try to lock up the 'crazy people'? haha. there are indeed other worlds and awarenesses waiting to be explored. you are right about...."its useless to think that we are in a real life matrix". thinking is useless. one has to act and seize with intent. thinking is the by-product of the rational mind which in fact is not our mind. the movies do come close enough with the analogy of a foreign intelligence. indeed our consciousness is 'entrapped' but not for the sinister purposes most believe. consciousness is about expansion and exploration. infinity is waiting.

If you think about it, and think about religion and whether Heaven or Hell really exists this could all make sense. There's the matrix, which would be our world, and our after-life, Heaven and Hell, which we could only reach after unplugging from the matrix. What if the real world is the world we're in after we die?

It's some crazy shit.

Could very well be Escogido, either way, we are being tested, sure seems that our life on Earth is just a prelude of something bigger, and our actions here will affect our place elsewhere !

I get that. What BluePill and El Escogido wrote. Maybe our lives are a prelude to something bigger and better or hectic and worse depending on how you live.
