As soon as Neo or another One is back, Smith or his analog will be out there trying to balance things out...

And again, the only reason there is a truce is because of Smith, not Neo...

Someone said here in the forum said the Matrix was happeing between the year 1980 and 2000.
So, if Neo has been freed in 1999, it does not let a lot of time for all the events we see in the sequels (especially the "we freed more people in the last 6 months etc.").

So maybe that the scene with the phoneboot is happening just after the sunset... since the Oracle said that Neo would be back.
Didn't you notice that when Neo was flying in Matrix1, there was a blur (like hot air) in his trail but in the sequel we can't see it.

I like Apocryphe's theroy, it is a good one. Neo makes the phone call at the end of M1, this is the final scene for the entire trilogy, M2 and M3, take us and show us the jorney from neo being killed in the hallway, to the phone call.

Hm...
I'm gonna have to think about this one...

Smith represents the instiatable, unstoppable. greedy nature of mankind. The viral, if you will. So Smith necessitated the truce, but Neo facilitated it. Neo gave his life to cancel out Smith equally.
Hmmm... Ithink I follow you, but I'm still not convinced. With Neo out of the picture, allthe source has to do is send more squiddies. Zion was as good as fallen and everyone knew it on both sides.
To have a truce you have to have some leverage, some bargaining power. So with Neo out of the picture, and the humans sorely out-gunned, the only leverage that I can think of is Sati and the oracle on the inside. This would mean that the AI could attack again, but if it did, Sati and the oracle would have 'em by the balls because they're on the inside. And although I don't completely understand Sati's role yet, If she can bring out the sun for the first time in a few thousand years, she could certainly threaten the machine world with drastically less power by waking all the pod-puppies.

Where's that take ya Omega?

Why do you think that Smith is "instiatable, unstoppable. greedy nature of mankind"?
Another question - Oracle is not on the side of Zion. She just wants the war to stop... Remember: one way or the other this war is going to stop She knows - her two creatures: Neo and Smith are out there... Even if neo chooses another door and makes the wrong choice. Smith is still functioning in the system and bringing it closer to the crash...
Another one: why do you think that Sati gives a crap about Zion?

...Even machines can see that we are already dead...

That's a good question. I think she cares more about Neo than she does about Zion. Another reason why I don't think she is a next One.

Or maybe simply another "potential" as seen in M1. But now, the One in the matrix has no need to be pulled into the real world, the sole purpose of the One is to travel to the source and reinsert the prime program. So idealy, if Sati is a One, she should go to the source sooner rather than later. Frogive me for the rant. In the words of Will Ferrell as the Architect: I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

Does anyone talk about what neo said "the one wasn't meant to end anything, it was all another system of control"
Neo is the one, but that is simply a matrix thing. Smith is a result of neo's partial rejection of that code. "he is you, your opposite, the result of the equation trying to balance itself out" There were no anti-ones, remember "the program smith has grown beyond your control" Because the system didn't work, and it wasn't going to work, because neo was never going to go back to the source. The machines need neo, and reluctantly they do end the war because only neo can save them. The one, simply a code thing, is completely the machines coping technique for dealing with people who want out, and get out. "despite my sincerest efforts have been unable to eliminate". Smith was probably some an accident, but also not because the equation wanted to balance itself out, because of neo. Neo saved zion because of smith, like you have said. Smith is responsible for zion being saved. The prophesy was bullshit. The oracle is a program designed for 1) making the one go back to the source, keeping the real world under control. 2) makng people in the real world trust her, enabling her first objective. She also somehow does try to help, as we see in revolutions. "you played a very dangerous game" so she wasn't really supposed to have done that. If anyone has any ideas as to why the machines would create an elaborate system to keep the real world under control, I would like to hear them. Seems quite unnesecarily elaborate, I don't see why they couldn't destroy Zion every five years and what not.

That's concise enough to explain everything.
