I have read many opinions about the meaning of green and blue but my question is more technical: were the blue and green colors obtained with lights and filters during the filming or after it, with digital technologies?

Seriously, they had green sets, green cars and even painted the contents of whole streets green. The colours were then tweaked digitally in post.

Of course not everything could be painted - such as the sky and large buildings and stuff, so filters or digital processing took care of these.

Dunno about the blue though, but I never thought the blue was as bluey as the green was greeney

Various places, mainly from the "making of" documentaries.

The street painting scene sticks in my mind, because I remember wondering at the time why they didn't just use filters.
