»Did Neo want to be The One?«

If I'm wrong I'm wrong but this is what I think...

I think that Neo didn't actualy want to be the One...
Because all he really wanted was to know what the Matrix was,
Being the One he knew he was going to end the war by dying and if you have noticed he has never once smiled during his time in the Matrix...
His Face dropped when Morpheus told him he was the One, it all came too fast I gather...
When the Oracle told him he wasn't the One, I'm sure he was actualy more relieved than dissapointed.. Its not as if anyone would want to die...

What do you think?

I'll have to disagree. I don't think he knew he had to die all along.

I think what matters is when he 'accepts' his death....

In the first Matrix, Neo wouldn't accept it because Trinity loved him.

In the Matrix Reloaded, Neo didn't die because Trinity was still alive, the CONNECTION was still there, and the love gave him a reason to live, which is essentially the whole purpose of living....to love.

However, in the Matrix Revolutions, Neo had to accept the inevitable, as Smith had been telling him all along, as did the Architect, AND the Oracle....

Smith...."It (Neo's death) is inevitable"....

The Architect..."She (Trinity) is going to die and there is NOTHING you can do to stop it"....

The Oracle...."Everything that has a beginning (Neo's AND Trinity's life) has an end"....

Trinity had to die so Neo's purpose wasn't blinded, and the Architect backs this up by calling love an emotion that "blinds people from the simple and obvious truth"....

When Trinity died at the end of Revolutions, the connection was gone. However, this had to occur so Neo could fulfill his purpose of ending the war, or at least momentarily stopping it....

In the last fight with Smith, Neo believed he could beat Smith because he 'Chose' to....However, after a failing attempt to destroy just ONE of the Smiths, the Oracle spoke through that Smith and said again "Everything that has a beginning has an end"....Thus, Neo knew that the Oracle was speaking through Smith and telling Neo that it was his time to die....

I'm not putting you down at all. I just disagreed with something you hypothesized....

Everybody KNOWS they're going to die at somepoint, but ACCEPTANCE of your death is what the key is.

I think Neo ACCEPTED his death when the Oracle spoke through Smith down in that pit. He accepted it because he knew it was the Oracle speaking through Smith, the same words she spoke earlier in Revolutions.

Neo didn't took his powers as a gift or as a curse beause of trinity. She, as his pillar, kept him stable toughout the way which is the reason why the sixth anomal was the most different.
We obsere his ups and downs.
When he's up, he flies around and enjoy the scenery.
When he's down, he get's confused.
Neo: "I just wished i knew what i'm supposed to do that's all"
Trin(holds his hand): "Don't worry.."

He is a man who accepts what he sees..
So he wasn't so bothered about his powers but the end of the war which is what i can say.

I agree.. He just accepted his death, He is accepted the strain and power upon his shoulders..

He just took things that came to him I guess,

I rather think he actually never knew nothing. I think that was the reason for his anxiety. Always looking for the truth, and when the truth arrived there was another question raising up.

What's the matrix?: The matrix is this.
Who am I?: You're the one.
What am I supposed to do?: Go to the machine city and you'll find it out.

Yeah well, In total of all this it made me think..

Its kinda strange for Neo to actualy become the One... What I mean is..

He was looking for what the Matrix was, how about all the other men in the Matrix, Just like.. How and why was Neo picked to become the One or what did he have that was so different to any other man?

Maybe its co-insidence I dont know but a man looking for what the Matrix was actualy became the one.. It just gets to me..

At anyrate, I've read a theory (I can't remember where or by whom at the moment) that postulates that the reason he has the title of "The One" is because he was the one who created the initial AI. Being the one isn't something anyone can do, they need to have been genetically different as well has have special code in their mind, etc. That the answer to the architect's problem of choice will never be able to be solved by himself, because the architect is flawed, because he was created by the AI, which is flawed because the one who created IT was flawed, Neo. It was all very interesting...

So, if that guy was right, Neo was always the one. Everytime he dies, he is genetically grown again and re-inserted in the matrix so that the oracle can lead someone to him and the rest is detailed in the movies.

If, however, he is incorrect then Neo was as advertised in the movie... just a hacker looking for the answer to a question.

P.S. BTW, does anyone know the theory of which I speak? I'd love to give the guy credit, but I've forgotten it's name and author

I believe the "inevitability" is that the "shell" or "flesh" of humans will die, only their spirt or soul will live on, just as the programs can continue if they find another shell to avoid being deleted.
