»How does the Oracle know....«

I was watching Reloaded for the gazillionth time and something puzzled me. The Oracle told Neo that she knew he wasn't sleeping and that they'd talk about it later. My question is, HOW THE HELL DID SHE KNOW THAT? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Neo can't sleep in ZION. Yet the Oracle is a program bound to the Matrix. How does she get this information if Zion and The Matrix are not both a part of a system (MiM theory)? Does this not help, if not prove, that Zion is a Matrix?

I think that we both agree on the point that programs like “Oracle”, can clearly “see” through the shell of an object and watch its “code”, very much like Neo does.

We both certainly are aware that “one’s appearance in the matrix is called “residual self-image”, which is the mental projection of the one’s digital self”.

Have you ever considered that these “mental” projections – codes - are actually able to carry and represent “Sleep problems” or any other psychological or mental disorders?
Regarding the definition of Residual Self Image, they certainly do.

Therefore oracle doesn’t even need to use its powers to tell if Neo suffers from sleep problems or not.

any good physcologist guy could probably tell if you havn't been sleeping. and mabey it's a trait of all the ONES, mabey they all can't sleep before the prophercy is completed, and she is just guessing.

We notice how the Oracle gives things to Neo like candy and cookies, and she examines him etc.

Perhaps this is a part of her nature as a program- to sort of scan and read information taking place within other programs. Perhaps some of the methods she uses reveal information otherwise hard to retreive.

Or, it may be that she is the "intuitive" program the Architect called the mother of the matrix. If so, she might not need rational explanation for how she knows things- because it comes intuitively, like another sort of sense she can detect.

The answer is simple: She knows because it happened to the ones before OR because it is programmed within Neo and she can see that.

During his time with the architect when the architect describes the program that is the "mother" Neo asks is it hte Oracle and the architect says "Please" in a of course not tone.

As knnknn posted she knows possible because she's seen it before. The Ones before Neo may have had the same dream... or a different dream.
IF NEO is different from the ones before him, then he has a NEW dream, however this dream is created by the machines, and he's been having it for a while now. The Oracle actually knows about the beginning of the dream. "The door made of light" but then she asks what happens when you got through it... then Neo explains what happens. That is somewhat proof, but not heavy enough.

By the way, does anyone know whta the PATCH with holes (Chip looking thing) on Neo's door could mean. This is from the scene when Ballard knocks on his door to give him the "location" of the Oracle.

I think the dream may have been planted by the machines, like downloaded onto Neo, perhaps from eating the cookie from the Oracle's kitchen?

Also, although it isnt really clear at all, the Architect may have said "please" because he scoffs at the name humans have given this program. Like, "you call her the Oracle? oh give me a break, she's just a simple program..."

KnnKnn: haven't you thought that the Ones are all diferent and that each one of them has diferent dreams?It is variable, and therefore beyond control or predictability, thus the only way for the Orcale to really knoe that Neo hasn't have been sleeping and she knowing "part" of his dream, is that in fact Zion is controloed by someone from "outside", or that Zion is a matrix....

The oracle knows everything... Else she hadent been an oracle
The oracle is just another program os the matrix and therefor she can read in in The matrix program what is going to happend... Just think back to When Neo talks with the 'Father' of the Matrix... You get told that everything has happend before and Everything is Destiny to happend the way the 'Father' Wants to... The only thing he doesent control is NEO becouse he is something like a Virus in the Matrix (A littel strange that the Virus is the good guy...) and is trying to free all the minds and save Zion... I think we get the solution of everything in the Matrix Revulution...

And in the first movie when Neo meets the Oracle for the first time The oracle says to neo: "Dont worry about it... in the moment you step outside that door you wil start feeling bether, you vil remeber that you dont belive in any of this fate crap..."

But one thing i just saw is that the Oracla had right when she said: "You have the gift but it looks like you are waiting for simething... You next life maybe" Becouse later in the movie he get's killes and wakes up... we can see this as he's next life... A life as Neo and not Mr. Anderson...
