It's obvious that Agents are incredibly powerful and more than a match for the average human. They can dodge bullets, leap from building to building, punch through concrete, and (their biggest advantage) in essence, they cannot be destroyed.
Aside from by Neo, of course. But, in the Post-Revolutions world, humans who venture into the Matrix will encounter Agents (as said for "Matrix:Online"). And the agents will still act on their base programming-Destroy threats to the system.
So, given agent's obvious advantages over the standard human, what are some ways that a red pill could defeat an Agent? At least, for long enough to escape to an exit.
Possible Strategies:
1 ~ We have never seen agents dodge bullets while they were running. Every time, they themselves were relatively still, in that they weren't moving themselves.
Ergo, it stands to reason that they cannot dodge bullets at the same time they are focused on doing something else of "superhuman" caliber.
Possible exploitation? If an Agent is leaping after you (ala Agent Brown after Trinity, M1) it may be possible to bring him down with gunfire while he is in the process of jumping. Like Morpheus said, they are still operating in a system governed by rules-Such as momentum. They will fly into your bullets and (at least) be delayed.
2 ~ Agents can dodge bullets from a semi-automatic weapon (such as a handgun). However, anything within the Matrix can be overwhelmed-Even Neo was overwhelmed by the sheer number of Smiths. It might work on the same principle with an Agent and bullets. Shoot enough bullets, and the agent might not be able to dodge them all. Obviously, a simple machine gun won't work. Only weapons that fire at incredibly high rates of speed could hope to have a chance at landing a hit. And even then, you'd need a lot of bullets.
3 ~ Agents are still susceptible to physical injury, like anyone else in the Matrix. It's just much harder to inflict on them. Ergo, proximity explosives, mines, anti-vehicle weapons when they are in vehicles-All might be effective strategies in delaying agents. Again, I say "delay". Unless an effective means of completely destroying an agent can be found, delaying is more or less all that can be done.
4 ~ This next strategy depends on whether or not agents breathe, or can be affected by "biological" or "chemical" contaminants within the Matrix. In this case, using noxious gases, biological weapons, or simple aphyxiation (possibly by trapping an agent within some kind of vacuum) might all be effective ways of combating an agent. At the same time, using any of these methods to stun or disable an agent, but not kill it's human host, would also be very effective (perhaps more effective than killing the host) in delaying them. Still, as we have insufficient data on the subject, we can only speculate.
Any other ideas for delaying agents, based on what is known about them? They might be effective techniques used by players in the Matrix: Online, or just an interesting discussion. Or both.
