Neo vs. Smith

Me and my one friend from school are Matrix fans. We've debated just about every single topic that is the slightest bit controversial until it would just make you want to cry but there is still one topic that eludes us. Is Neo alive or is he dead? I say Neo is dead and he says Neo is alive. Here's how I explained why I believe Neo is dead and I warn you you might have a headache at the end. No joke.

My first point is my most important and if it can be disproved than so can my entire theroy. In everyone's code, when they are plugged into the Matrix there is a certain line of it that assigns them a varaible. The "good" guys like Morpheous, Trinity, Niobe (notice I didn't say Neo) their varaible is close to equaling 1. Only Neo's code truly equals 1 though. I used one because Neo is "the One". Now the "bad" guys like the Agents, Architect, Merovingian (notice I didn't say Smith) there variable is closer to -1. Smith, not Agent Smith's varaible is as close to being -1 as you can without being -1. That is why Neo will always, always, always win when ever he and Smith fight.

My next point involves Oracle-Smith. Whenever Smith copied someone their code became identical with Smith's. But something with the Oracle's code and Smith's code caused a "super" Smith to emerge. This Smith's code does equal -1. So now the equation is balanced and everything would be fine if Oracle-Smith didn't end up copying everyone else in the Matrix.

My final point as to why Neo is dead is basic math. Neo and Oracle-Smith fight but no matter how much Oracle-Smith beats up on Neo, Neo will never stop. But then Oracle-Smith (-1) forces Neo (1) to become a Smith (-1). The equation when Oracle-Smith copied Neo would look like this:

1=-1

No math book in the world will tell you that is correct. In my mind, forcing 1 to become -1, when there is no way 1 can equal -1, would really mess up the person and it does. Smith-Neo is destroyed, he is killed, his mind is destroyed while in the Matrix. As Morpheous said "The body cannot live without the mind" Neo's mind died, Neo died, plain and simple.

Any thoughts or disagreements?

Why Mr.Anderson, why, why, do you persist?!?

In Reloaded Neo was unable to defeat the Smiths. There were too many of them. However, they were unable to defeat Neo either. A stalemate.

If the oracle's power was going to change this Smith would've thrashed Neo.

Smith and Neo are balanced at all points of the sequels.

Smith and Neo are not balanced until their final fight.

Smith is evil but not until he copies the Oracle is he really able to really mess up the Matrix. Remember what Sparks said?

Sparks: Looking good except... there's something wrong with the Matrix feed.

A.K.- No there's not, you're looking at what we're looking at.

Only when Oracle-Smith came into the picture was there really a true opponent, a true equal for Neo. And because he was his opposite when he tried to force Neo to become him it didn't work because Neo cannot become his opposites.

I wasn't arguing that he could always mess up the matrix. I was arguing that he was just as much a match for Neo before he posessed the oracle as after.

If Neo could defeat Smith in the first burly brawl (before Smith posessed the oracle) then he would have. Why didn't he defeat Smith? Because he couldn't!

I assume you're talking about the fight in the subway? If you remember Neo still didn't believe he was the One and didn't know he could really stand up to an Agent.

And if that doesn't satisfy you maybe this will. He DID destroy Smith in the hallway. Smith was supposed to be deleted after that but it was Smith's decision to retreat to the Matrix. And before Neo flew into him he was doing a very good job at taking everything Smith threw at him and just shoving it back up his a**!

Smith was never able to beat Neo until he possesed the Oracle and even then it was Oracle-Smith not the Smith formerely known as Agent.
