Neo could see the machines in zion because "the power of the one extends beyond this world". That means that ANYTHING that has to do with the machines in the real world or not, he can directly manipulate and 'see'-remember, it took him a while to just see regular MATRIX code.

3Tooth Dood, is this stupid. Sorry, but.. well.. if you could see code in Reality, I'd consider you a drug junkie. It's just stupid. There has to be some kind of onion layer around the green-toned "reality". There is no better point, sorry.

Personally, I think you are obviously correct. Obviously Neo can "see" code.

Some say this is ridiculous. Of course it is, if you interpret "see" too literally. The mistake people are making is in thinking that he is "seeing" the code in the same way that one sees anything else - light rays stimulating his eyeballs' rods/cones, those signals being sent to the "vision" part of his brain, etc. Obviously that's not it at all, the guy is *blind*. He "sees" code really means: 1. he can sense (*somehow*) the electromagnetic residues of that code operating in this or that machine (or person, i.e. Bane). 2. His brain has developed some kind of sub-unit which can receive those sensations and then interpret them (or send them in appropriate for to the vision-processing unit of his brain), to render them visually for him. (Isn't this how "seeing" works anyway? EM signals stimulate receptors -> receptors send signals to special part of brain which can render them visually?)

The difficult part to explain is *not* #2, it's #1. You can explain #2 just by assuming that being able to develop the code-to-vision subunit was programming put into him because he's "The one", by eating the Oracle's candy/cookies, from Persephone's kiss, from touching "the source", or whatever. Big deal. In the Matrix world, human brains are getting re-programmed all the time. Trinity can fly a frickin' helicopter, Smith can overwrite a whole human brain. That Thomas Anderson has been given a little subroutine which can translate "electromagnetic signature of 'living' computer code" into "3d visual representation", allowing him to "see" it, really should not be so surprising, it's one of the less surprising features of Matrix science actually. (all the hovercraft/flying machines are far more difficult to explain, what the hell, have the machines developed quantum gravity?)

#1 needs more explaining because it's not clear how Keanu can see the electronic signature of "living computer code" even when it's some 5 miles away from him... the signal would be so darn small, and even indistinguishable from "noise", probably... So who knows. Basically you have to imagine that he has a "The One" computer chip, or antenna, or secret port, implanted on him somewhere, which was dormant but awakened recently (by candy/cookies/Persephone's kiss/"the source"/whatever). Maybe the distance problem is moot because he really communicates with local cell towers all the time.

Whatever the case, he's clearly in contact with the machine-world now (because he's "The One"), and can "see" living machine intelligence.

The only alternative is to postulate some matrix-within-matrix silliness.

I never noticed that the orange thing Neo sees is code, from what I always tought its mainly electricity/energy flowing around the citie and inside the machines. As to why he sees it is another question.

If it has been proven that the orange thing is code then I'm sorry, I'm new to this forum and there way too much information around for one assimilate in a couple of hours. Unless....Operator! I need the matrix-explained forum transcript now!....Nah not working Wink

I think you are correct. I have looked at these scenes over and over. Even made some enhanced blowups. But there is no code there (as in matrix code). The Orange "code" is made out off light points, where the matrix code is made out off light emiting code characters. So I think he "sees" energy.

i'm only talking about the orange code in the real world. The golden code in the matrix (like when Neo meets Seraph), is another story.

Neo is connected with the source. Every inch of machine city is covered wtih sensors, millions of tiny robots everywhere. Think of the source as the internet, Neo is only sense each and every node.
