Persephone is not the Mother because of Greek mythology

Persephone is probably not the mother - in greek mythology, Persephone was the daughter of Demeter. And the Wachowski's have been staying true to all sorts of things, mythology included.

I totally agree with her not being the mother. I still think that the Oracle is the mother of the matrix. I know, I know, but the Archetect(SP?) scoofs at Neo when he says her name, BUT I believe that he is scoofing at her being called the oracle, not the mother of the matrix. My reason for this is because the Oracle has seen everything that has happened in the past 5 matrices and the Archetecht knows this so I believe he is scoofing at her being called an oracle, because she is not telling people what will happen see is telling people what DID happen.

Just my idea though, maybe i need more sleep Wink

The Wachowski like their character to have multiple meanings... In other words, they like to confuse us... So, Persephone could be the Mother, and that has nothing to do with greek mythology...

According to the Greek myth, Persephone(daughter of earth goddess Demeter: although I'm not sure if Persophone was also immortal) was kidnapped by Hades(god of the Dead and The Underworld) and he forced her to marry him. And unfortunately, Hades also claimed that once someone has visited The Underworld, they can never return.

Demeter was so upset that an arrangment was made that Persephone would spend half of each year in The Underworld, with Hades, and half of it on earth, with her family. And this was how the seasons occurred: when Persophone was home Demeter would make flowers blossom, plants grow and fruit bloom(Spring+Summer) but when Persephone returned to The Underworld, the earth was fruitless and barren(Autumn and Winter).

Is using the name Persephone for a woman tiring of her husband implying that Merovingian is Hades, or something along those lines?

Oh, and I really don't know if she's the mother or not. Sorry! Just had to say this.
