I stumbled upon a great hidden treasure on the Matrix's official website. In this article, the trainman's purpose is revealed.

For those of you who don't wanna know, stop reading.

As most of us know, Neo is trapped between the Matrix and the Machine World. He is in what is called no-mans land. According to the article found on thematrix.com, this is where the Trainman "controls all travel between the Matrix and the Machine world."

For those of you who want to read this article, click on the communications button on the top toolbar of thematrix.com (all the way to the right, it flashes red). Then click on "The Matrix Revolutions Production Notes" > "Proceed" > "The Final Chapter." Be forwarned, there is a lot of material to read and much of it may spoil Revolutions for you. My faith in the MiM theory may show its cracks from here on out.

Why is the Trainman ABLE to hit Neo? Shouldn't Neo be able to block the Trainman? Does this mean that Neo has lost his powers, were they taken away from him?

1) Either he doesn't hit Neo (but someone else)
2) or the subway world is not the Matrix Neo can bend
3) Neo is weaker than him (trainman bum = former One?)
