1. The Merovingian was once the One (Persephone wants a kiss from Neo for this reason).
2. Trinity is a program because she selected the code Z10N0101 in the power plant. 0 and 1 are used in binary codes, the codes used by programs.
3. All the ship captains are programs.

And an interesting explanation to the anomaly:
1 over 3 is 0.333333..., but it is simplified by a computer as 0.3333. when you multiply by three, the answer is 0.9999999. The 0.000001 that disappeared is the One.

Oh boy, here we go:

1. Many, myself included, believe that the Merovingian was on of the 5 ones prior to Neo. None of them, including the merovingian, fell in love so they chose the door to the salvation of Zion. Theres plenty of stuff to support this.

However there are counter-arguements like the fact that the Oracle said he was a program.

There is a counter-counter-argument that she was lying to him, as we know she likes to do, because she thinks it will help him.

I just gave you the overview, theres TONS of other details to go into.

2. Trinity is not a program because she can be seen in the real world. She is not a program because she pushed a button with some binary on it. Thats like calling my Geometry 101 teacher a program and an enemy to the survival of mankind.

3. Programs only have a real 'form' besides little yellow bits in the matrix, where there are no levitating ships to be found.

Maybe that helped.

1. Merv was not a previous One. There are many technical details which people ignore while thinking Merv was a One. Persephone wants a kiss from Neo because thats what her character does. She wants a kiss from Niobe and Ghost in the video game as well.

2. No, Trinity is not a program. The fact that she used a well known binary hacking code is a pretty sad reason to think she is a program.

3. No, the ship captains are human as well.

While that is the general idea of the anomaly, it is more complicated than that. The equation and the variables are much more complicated. The refusal of the Matrix by the non-accepters creates an imbalance in the equations which govern the Matrix. This forms a remainder in the equation which does not function in the equation. This remainder is added and a code is assigned to one person in the Matrix to be the `sum of the remainder'. This is the One. When the One (by choice) returns this code to the Source, the remainder is re-inserted into the equation and the system stabalizes.

First of all, I haven't thought of the theories I posted so I dont agree or disagree with them. I just posted them because I want to know what other people think.

Now I know that my last two theories are wrong, but I agree with Akshat that the Merovingian is not a previous One (therefore human)
