Neo should have made a different agreement....

I think Neo, at the end, knew that the machines became the dominating force in the Real World. So I think, along with the peace agreement, Neo should have asked if more people could be freed. After all, if peace exists, which was Neo's agreement, why couldn't they free more people.

Perhaps the machines were just going to let Zion grow and grow instead? But once it got so big, they might see it as a threat again.

I personally don't like how it ended now that I think about it. The ending didn't move me. It just depressed me because the peace agreement could be shattered at any moment.

I am sorry you feel this way about the ending. It really was quite an achievement considering where the Machines and Humans had been at. It is the beginning of a new day, a new chapter, new possibilities. Like many things in life, change takes time and is worked out in stages. The path will continue.

Well I think that now, since the Architect agreed to free "the others" (meaning us, the people who play MxO Shocked ), a different agreement would not have been needed.

Exactly.

The whole point of Revolutions and the Animatrix was to stress that the Machines weren't the bad guys. They only wanted to survive.

Smith is the bad guy. He wants to eradicate everything.

Even Smith is entirely a bad guy - he's just fulfilling the purpose he was given. His whole purpose was to counter-balance Neo. As he says to the oracle when she calls him a bastard - "You would know, mom".

No....Smith is definitely bad. Even though he is fulfilling his karma.

Yup ^

By saying that it was his purpose, you're not actually denouncing what I'm saying.

Yes, it was his purpose. He knew that, and he relished it.

Remember, the only reason Smith was evil was because he started evil in m1. By m3 he had simply grown to become the malevolent anti-one.

Exactly. Just as how Neo grew to be the all-powerful one.
