Yes "Peace", thats all he wanted, because that is all the prophecy would alow him for.

As for the other things:

like fixing the sky and the planet, I beleve there was know point, because they were undoable.

And as for gradually freeing the people. I recon taking them out of there pods, and reveilling them to the world which they never knew would be a shock.

Peace? (...) For how long?

Whatever Neo would have done,... this question would always be relevant. Our reality is proof for that.

That's all?

I think peace is a lot!
It is survival, it is a new beginning, it is a chance. In Neo and Sati, both worlds have grown together.

As Neo says in the Matrix shooting transcript: ""I believe that the Matrix can remain our cage or it can become our chrysalis (...) to be free, truly free, you cannot change your cage, you have to change yourself." (I really wish this line would have made it into Revolutions!)
What is a chrysalis? It is a pupa, a protected stage of development -> the larvae develops, changes itself, transforms into a butterfly, a winged, beautiful creature.
Considering the condition of the real world, that has btw been caused by mankind,... the Matrix is mankind's pupa. What they make of this chance is up to them. And it is a mirror held in front of our faces, asking us: Will mankind be able to keep this peace and emerge from this pupa (either metaphorically or figuratively) as a butterfly, or will they remain in delusion and bluntly go on fighting cages.
Translate this into our reality. Will we ever be able to live in peace? Will we ever transcend the cages we believe we have to fight?

Neo has found enlightenment. He has come to understand the ultimate truth, the one-ness of the universe. For him there is no more "us" and "them", only the One. But this understanding cannot be taught. This is an experience that everybody has to make for himself. Everybody has to walk the path of a growing consciousness, the path from delusion to truth, by himself.
This is a part from my understanding of the end from an eastern philosophy view.

And what about the Christian view? What did Jesus do for mankind? Did he bring peace, did he bring freedom?

I believe the message is clear: we cannot put our hands in our lap and wait for messiahs to change our world. Messiahs will "only" give us a new chance. If we want our world to be changed, we have to change ourselves, because we make the world we live in.

Just like that? It's all in the new chance; but man and machine have to be ready for that. Give them time.

The Messiah, Jesus, walked the path, opened the door, stepped through, and tells us to follow in the same path.

Fundamentalist christians usually emphasize the forgiveness-side of salvation. But forgiveness is not the final goal: the goal is a changed life, and a changed world, defining a new reality, the reality the Messiah shaped in his life, and redempting death, and his enpowering resurection. "I am the vine, you are the branches", "we are the body of Christ", "every tree will be known by its fruit".

Is the following the One's, Jesus', most common phrase?
"Follow me!"

Jesus' life has meant just as much to the people of the East as to people of the West ... with the exception of not institutionalizing a Pope Wink

What I mean by "the people of the East" are basically those east of Jerusalem. "The Orient" as some might put it. Israel, Arabia, Syria, Mesopotamia, Persia, India, Central Asia, Mongoliga, Tibet, China, Japan, etc.

When one sees the spread of Christianity only over the Roman empire in Bible atlases, it's a grave falsification. Christianity spread just as much and more toward the East the first 1000 years.

(The spread of Islam had a greater tole on Christianity in the East and most of it was wiped out during that time. It seems that many missionaries spread from Persia (Iran) into Asia during many centuries. The theology and liturgy was basically Syrian. There was also more adaption in the East. The Gospel in China for example was clothed in "Chinese" concepts, for example "kharma").

zynxamek,
thanks for clarifying this.
Almost, I would have fallen victim to a misunderstanding, but - as Merv says - "it's always best to ask". Wink

I'm beginning to believe that Neo defined or created a new reality for both man and machine inbodying a peace-agreement. It has been speculated that the orange-pattern-(code?) explosion in Revolutions title sequence symbolises this neo-reloading of this new neo-reality! Wink

Thread about this explosion:

matrix-explained.com...

After the explosion, there is a zoom-in into the explosion and you actually see the machine city 01 in orange pattern. Then you zoom out again into the green code, and then zoom out into a car zooming out into the big city that zooms out into a glyph into the rest of the katakana letters on the screen in the hovercraft Hammer.

This suggests that this explosion, this big-bang of a new existence, is omnipresent in both machine-world, matrix-world, and zion-world!

A Neo-reality with neo-laws and neo-possibilities Wink This means a lot! A real lot! If you have seen Renaissance I & II, you will know what that means!

wow. You guys have blown my mind.

I recognized the orange code at the end to be like Ren I & II on Animatrix. But hadn't put it together with a new Neo reality. Brilliant.

Also, thanks for giving me some food for thought. East and West philosophies. Hm.

According to the phrophesy, the one meant 'destruction of the matrix'. This did not happen, also the peace will only last so long, but morphus said 'end to the suffering of my people'. On a similar note I will go the what the oracle said before neo's visit to the architect: 'you've already made the choice, now you have to understand it.' The oracle knew neo would save trinity, the problem was he didn't know why. Neo saved Zion. Was that what the oracle meant? The fourth matrix movie, if there is going to be one, could have some of these things loose ends rectified. Also, I think if Neo did really save Zion forever the machines would know they were screwed, they would have to change their plan. Funny, Smith indirectly saved possibly the whole world...
