»Trinitys name meaning«

on the main site i noticed you mentioning trinitys name and in the film it not becoming clear what it means,

if you do a google search for define trinity, one of the definitions is in Christianity, the term used for the existence of one God in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

for me this eaitehr means morpheus neo and trinity, or smith neo and the machines.

Trinity can refur to any of these groups of three, the film is full of trinities.

I think it refers to Herself, Neo and Smith becuz Trinity is part of neo and neo is part of smith. THat is why smith became stronger when he killed trinity, the balance tiped in his favour. THis might sound farfetched but its just a thought

For starters, Smith didn't kill Trinity. The Logos crashed into a tower and she got impaled. (Remember?) And Trinity's death had nothing to do with Smith getting more powerful.

Trinity's name is an obvious reference to the Christian Trinity, which is represented in the movies as the one of Morpheus, Neo, and Trinity.

Morpheus is the God figure, or as Laurence Fishburne described his role, the John the Baptist figure (Morpheus was the Greek god of dreams, so you see, his name is godlike).

Neo is obviously the Christ figure. He is "The One", the savior. His coming has been prophesized. The name "Neo" implies something new, a new beginning, a new world. His name before Neo was Thomas Anderson. "Thomas" = The one that didn't believe. "Anderson" = Son of man.

Now, on to Trinity, Trinity's character is the one who completes the Trinity. She is the Holy Ghost, the force behind Neo. The one whose power and love resurrects Neo at the end of The Matrix.

I actually thought the theory was quite clever there.

The fact that Smith gains more power after Trinity dies does seem very interesting. Obviously the change is more symbolic than direct 'cause and effect' I thought it was an interesting observation.
