Today, I went to a bookshop, for the first time in about 6 years. This bookshop has gotten the award for the best bookshop in Australia by coincedence and so I decided to have a look. I was overly schocked when I found a book called 'Mona Lisa Overdrive' by William Gibson, the same name as the song played in the Highway chase scene in the Matrix Reloaded. I picked it up, read the blearb and it read -

"Mona's pimp sells her to a plastic surgeon and she's turned overnight into the double of Angie, the famous Hollywood star. The real Angie intuitively understands the deepest secrets of the Matrix. Now Mona aswell as Angie is the target of the shadowy Yakuza, the powerful Japanese mafia."

Just to make sure this wasn't a Matrix spoof, I checked the publish date, which was 1989. I havn't read it yet, but I will post a review on it when I do.
I do know the Matrix in it is a huge computer program like in the movies. I think this book is definitely something Andy and Larry based the movies on so I went straight ahead and bought it and I should finish reading it in about a week.

Well..... here I am.

You should read Neuromancer first. Its the first book in the collection by William Gibson. Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive follow them. The premise is somewhat similar. Indeed it was one of the inspirations for the Matrix.
