theres something i dont understand..

The "5th Matrix" was rebooted. Right?

Zion was destroyed.

Exept for 23 people, who rebuilt Zion.

So what happened to all the people still plugged into the 5th Matrix?
Didn't they get killed, to make room for the 6th Matrix generation?

Did the machines all of a sudden "give birth" to billions of people all at once? How the fuck does that work?!?!

First of all, all the previous Zionites were killed. The 23 were chosen from the Matrix, as the Architect said. As for how the Matrix was reloaded: It's as easy as erasing everyone's memory and giving them new memories (like Cypher was supposed to get a new memory after being reinstated). Nobody has to die. Or, perhaps the reload wouldn't even need to erase everyone's memory but would happen instantly, creating a deja-vu for everyone in the Matrix.

Not to be contradictory, weren't Tank and Dozer (among others) "Genuine children of Zion? I didnt notice any plugs on Link either, not to mention Zee, Tank and Dozers sister.

It is true that Tank and Dozer were born in Zion, but their birth does not predate the creation of the sixth Zion.

A) If you believe in the MiM theory, Tank and Dozer were born in the 6th Zion (the Blue Matrix), but are unattached to the Green Matrix.

B) If you don't believe in the MiM theory.... When the 5th Zion was destroyed, 23 from the Matrix were selected to rebuild Zion. These 23 helped free new minds and in turn, these new Zionites would have children, therefore Tank and Dozer wouldn't have the plugs.

OK, I see now.

When Tank explained who he was in the first movie I took the word "Genuine" to literally. I got the impression that he came from a family tree of humans that were all born and not grown.
