Perhaps the Architect, Oracle, etc. represent the once or still living humans. For example, if someone is familiar with Aliens, in the third movie we see Bishop (who was a droid in aliens 2) in human form.

So the droid was build to represent the real human. Perhaps, in the same way the architect was a human who maybe helped design the matrix and then created a controlling figure within it (as a program) resembling his appearance, in the architect role.

For example, if I create some program, I would make (recreate) my appearance in virtual form to be the master of that program, so my character would live forever. Perhaps also insert my characteristics and memory.

If Smith could overwrite human brains on the matrix, and The oracle can change her appearance, then whats to stop the same "One" from being Overiten each time the matrix restarts. So t would be Neo again, in a differant body and his memory wiped out. But not completely, wich is why he sees bits of the future.

Which makes the Architect not part of the Matrix, but a program running parallell to the Matrix (not inside it).

Neo did not leave the Matrix to meet the Architect. His body remained onboard the ship while his mind was connected to the Matrix...he was never disconnected and therefore he never left.

When the Architect says that Zion is going to be destroyed he asked Neo to select 23 Persons in order to rebuild the matrix. This means that the Architect cannot be part of any version of the Matrix.

The Architect himself may be separate from the Matrix, but when he met Neo he was inside the Matrix in a "secure room" where not even Smith could interfere. Furthermore, the Matrix itself is separate from Zion...the Zion is a real physical place while the Matrix is a program running on the minds of people. (Well, unless other MiM theories are correct).

Which only makes a pretty difference if Zion is real.

If Zion is fake then everything is a simulation.

I would say that the Architect is self created an evolutionary leap of A.I
If the Architect is on a par with GOD, then he was self created.

I think you are confusing Neo's physical location and were his mind is within a computer network. I do not believe the orginal poster was suggesting that Neo was not inside of a computer network when he meets the Architect, but rather than it is part of the computer network oustide of the Matrix. Keep in mind the Matrix is a simulation designed to imprison human minds and NOT the sum total of the AI or the computer network. It would stand to reason that there would have to be a multitude of other computer networks, connected, but not part of the Matrix.

Another detail in the film that supports this is that between when Neo fades into the door and when he appears in the room with Architect there is a brief glimpse of thousands of globes of light not unlike a galaxy of stars or other networks?

Also the very definition of creater requires a certain seperation from the subject or creation.

Ultimately, answering who created the Architect will only lead to a problem of "first cause." But with what was presented in the films so far, I would saw that he is not human, never was, or every will be and is an old AI program seperate but responsible for the Matrix.

The question is, is he the main AI or is just a subset of many.

The Architect is an emmenation from the Source. The Architect stands for the Jehovah Ancient of Days as seen by some occult science and philosophy.

Jehovah is not seen as God Absolute, but the the finite projection of God in the cosmos. He is seen as a sort of demigod.

When mankind discovers the Lucifer principle, then the power of Jehovah is destroyed.

They all come from the source--the Great Unknown God, or in Thelemic terms, No-God.
