There is a 29 Page article on Revolutions in the April 04 Edition (97) of Cinefex Magazine

It features interviews with the effects team at ESC who reveal the reasons behind certain shots.

In doing so it reveals what the Wachowskis wanted them to achieve with the effects and so effectively answers a few of the questions still floating around.

For example the end scene where Neo is carried off, the device doing it is referred to by the effects team as "the garbage truck". Awww! So many people will be upset.
