Neo : "I was told it would happen"
Mor : "by whom?"
Neo : "it doesn't matter"

I assumed this was the architect, but when i look back, the closest he gets to a time being said is "zion is ABOUT to be destroyed"

so who told neo in 12 hours it will be

You are quite confusing... you clearly wrote 12 hours when he says 24 hours... am I wrong?

I think you're comfusing NEO with the commander in the preview.

Remember in the preview he said
"That would give us about 9 hours"
and int he preview the machines would reach the dock in 12 hours.

The "over 9 hours" is from the movie and the "12 hours" is forem trailer

If you only want to inquire if somebody told Neo that "the war will be over in 24 hours", nobody told Neo in the movie, but there are many references to the time when sentinels reach Zion.

Is there any other point you would like to conclude from Neo`s statement that :"In 24 hours, it (the war) wiII be (over)." ?

Yes there is a reference to 24 hours in the Architect's speech. He refers to the fact that in 24 hours the Matrix will crash if the One does not serve it's purpose, to select 23 individuals to start a new Zion as the Matrix Reloads.

This reference 24 hours though would be a reference to when the entire human race dies and not specifically Zion. Given the different time lines mentioned in the film Zion's demise is a bit hazy. But given that the humans attempted a preemptive active on machines prior to reaching Zion, it is of course possible that the orginal 9 hours estimate would actually end up being longer given the battle would have slowed the sentinels descent.

But there is another question:
Why does Neo say "It doesn't matter"? Is it because they have no time for discussions? Or does Neo know more?

I think partly because its irrelevant. At least from Neo's point of view.

Morpheus spent most of the movie telling people to trust him and now He's questioning the reliability of "The One"s source (no pun intended). The impertenance of the man, to say nothing of hypocracy.

Neo knows it would take ages to try and convince this man that his precious phylosophy is fundamentally flawed and that he's been a puppet of the machines all this time.
