»How could Zion be destroyed if it's really real?«

After watching Reloaded, my husband and I had Matrix on the brain... there were so many things to think about! We went to sleep talking about the movie, and my husband being the thinker that he is, might have been going over theories in his head. The next morning, he shot from his sleep and blurted out "Zion is part of the Matrix." It made total sense, we both felt like everything we thought we knew about the Matrix ceased to be, and we had to re-think everything!
I don't claim to know a lot about the movie... but enough to be a big fan. After visiting your site, you seem to be the person to throw this theory at. I haven't read the transcript, and saw the movie only once in the theater... however, unless you can tell me otherwise, I stand by his theory, and hold my breath waiting for the final movie to see if he was right.
I'm really tired right now, and not thinking clearly so I can't recall everything what made us come to the conclusion that Zion isn't real. However, in the scene where Neo speaks with the architecht, and he is given the "choice" to re-load, choosing 23 people to start all over again, the question that come to mind is... how could they wipe Zion clean and start all over again, if it is not part of the Matrix?
If Zion IS indeed part of the Matrix, how sad is THAT?!

I consider this still as one of the strongest arguments for the MwM theory.

My god everthing would make sense: The Matrix + Zion are only a simulation, restarting every XXX years.

Zion is real, but is not destroyed every time the matrix is reloaded. The great white who decorates his crib with televisions is a liar.

The MATRIX within a MATRIX theory is a very popular idea, it has been discussed here, there and everywhere....I guess we shall find out on November 7th...not long to wait now....

I'm soo againt the matrix within a matrix theory.. mainly cus if u watch every one of the trailers for rev then u can see that all the questions can be answered without the need for a second matrix:

1 - stopping sentinels: some of smith's command software was "left on" neo when they made their "connection".. hence smith's being able to control a human body (bane) and neo's neing able to control the machines. that's why their connection is so significant.

2- Zion is not destroyed in matrix 2 (as far as i know) but the first line of defence ( the ships ) are slaughteredand then they "kept on digging" to get to zion. and in revoloutions neo makes a deal with the "machine god" to stop smith from corrupting the whole matrix and destyroyeing human crops if the machine's halt their attack on zion. ..

When I walked out of Reloaded for the first time the Matrix within a Matrix solution was the first thing that hit me, but I hope that is not the case because it tends to be a cheap resolution often used in movies dealing with questions of perception. In fact almost all them except for the numerous re-writes of "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" (Jacob's Ladder, Siesta, etc) which has a final ending / revelation. It is an obvious logic problem (how can you know anything) but lacks a satisfying dramatic end.

I think the idea that Smith and Neo have transferred code/elements and thus Neo's ability to control the sentinels is a result, but that does not really satisfy me. Because even if Neo does inherit elements of Smith he still would have no physical interface with the Sentinels and as a result would not be able to command them outside of the Matrix or at least a computer network.

Instead, I am wondering if instead it is more metaphysical than that. In that Neo is starting to realize that whether in the Matrix or in the real world, all the senses or normal perception is illusion. So he is actually becoming a genuine accented being. Rather than just a digital Buddha/Messiah?

On other hand maybe the sentinals are controlled via Wi-Fi
