Heres something i dont think has been brought up. If merv knew everything then he would see smith coming. so wouldnt he just go with the trainman and take everybody he wants and go to mobil ave? thats what i would do! i think it makes sence what do you think?

Maybe he did but even Mobil av would not have been safe from Smith sooner or later, i personaly think Smith has taken over everyone in the Matrix, but as we see with Sati and Oracle, programs are returned to normal when smith is destroyed. Maybe Mero knew this and wasnt worried so to speak.

but Mobil Ave isn't part of the matrix, so i think that they would have been safe from Smith there.

Yup, I don't think Mero and Co. would have hung around for that. He'd have seen it coming and hid out. I would have loved to have seen the confrontation between the Merovingian & Persephone and the Twins vs the Smiths, but the more I think about it, the more it seems reasonable that they would have gone somewhere to lay low until the business with Smith and Neo blew over.

Just because it was'nt part of the matrix, doesn't mean it was safe from Smith, Rama and his family are programs and they were there along with Neo's avatar. Smith would have got there in time, he pretty much took over the entire Matrix so who's to say he wasnt there when Smith and Neo were fighting?

As Neo says to Deus "Soon he will spread through this place like he has spread throught the matrix. You cannot stop him." Smith is a virus. In his own words "there's nowhere I can't go. There's nowhere I won't find you" (while posessing Bane). It was only a matter of time before Smith spread all the way to the source.

Hmmm....i guess thats possible but still i wonder, i would of left even if the smiths eventually found merv and the gang. I think it would of been smart. and no problem Die Fledermaus anytime.

I agree with Fatpie.
I think Merv & co. did probably hide in place like Mobil Ave but in a long run, if Neo wouldn't stop Smith, Smith would get to them as he would get to the Machine world.

Yes, i think that smith would of gotten to them but hiding out is good. Maybe Merv did get taken over. all i know i would of liked to see that or them hiding or something.

The sequels are basically one film split in two. That makes it about 4 hours AND YOU WANT MORE! :s

I thought Reloaded and Revolutions combined makes 5 hours?

Add 1 hour of Enter the Matrix to that!

Oh yes! I wanted to see the Smith's confrontation with the Merovingian and Persephone and their crew so badly! I just wanted to see how that would have played out, primarily because it would answer a long-standing question that I've had: can the Merovingian actually fight, in the traditional sense, or would the conflict between him and Smith have been primarily psychological, like Smith's run-in with the Oracle? I'd say it was a little bit of both. Another thing: since the Merovignians in history were called the Sorcerer Kings, and we've seen that Merv can twist the Matrix a little to suit him (his Chateau opens on his restauraunt AND the parking garage of the Restaurant AND the mountains, for example) would he display powers akin to wizardry? As much contention as there is between him and his wife, would they try to defend each other, or abandon one another to the fates in an attempt to escape?

I was wondering what powers the Merovingian would have too, but it seems now that he is nothing more than a 'trafficker of information". His power is his influence over other programs.

Hehe yeah, he's kinda like the Saruman of the matrix. (Will make more sense if you have read the LOTR books rather than watched the movies).

You know, this ties into a book I'm reading calld "Finite and Infinite Games." What is power, and what is strength? The Merovingian is a powerful program, but is he strong enough to fight off Smith? It does seem that the sole source of Merv's power is his ability to sway or manipulate others. But this power is not self-sustaining. It has to be continually maintained. Neo, on the other hand, has strength. He doesn't have the influence that the Merovingian has, but he can fight off just about anything that is thrown at him.

If given a choice, I would rather be strong than powerful.
