»Neo is a machine...Tank says so!«

Hi n00b here. Been reading all of the theories on the site and find them quite interesting. So, addressing the Neo is a program/machine theory...I was watching part of M1 again and just remembered when Tank is loading Neo with combat training for the first time, Morpheus asks how it's going and Tanks says "Ten hours...he's a machine!"

I know that he is just saying this out of disbelief, but could it mean something?? Anything?? Has this been addressed before?

Yes it has been adressed before. I wouldn't think that the Wachowskis would have put that phrase in there on accident. However, I'm not sure that they were intending to make a second and third movie while making the first one, so I'm not sure there's going to be a connection made.

if they put the phrase there on purpose, (i.e. the phrase has significant meaning) it wouldn't matter if they were intending on making subsequent movies.

regardless if tank's statement is reffered to, i think it's bound to be pretty significant whether or not neo is an actual machine or a human.

I think that the line;"He's some machine.." was put there for a reason, like the lines,.."He is STILL only human..."
This being a well thought out story I feel that there has to be a method behind the brilliance.

They have declared many times such intention during M1 making. Also, there are
some evidences in M1, the train in the station has the word LOOP on it, which leads to the reloaded stuff. In the "take out your shirt" scene, Trinity points the street and say "you have been down there". That sentece looked absolutely gratuit in M1, and it seems it is the same street where neo is going to fight smith in M3.

But when Neo is killed his mind was somehow STILL ALIVE

The Oracle Says:
"[Neo] touched the SOURCE and seperated his mind from his body. Now he lies trapped in a place between your world and ours."

THis is repated in a short version in the Revolutions trailer:
"Neo is trapped between YOUR WORLD and the MACHINE WORLD"

Meaning YES! THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE DREAM WORLD
THE SOURCE CAN ONLY BE REACHED IN YOUR MIND.
Neo has now become useful to the machines. He cannot be killed his mind "LIKE A PROGRAM" is roaming in the computer world HUMANS and
MEN are now "ONE" and his program identity/soul/spirit is TRAPPED IN THE MATRIX.
* He could choose to hide like the Merovingian (for those who beleive the Merovingian was a ONE) He could be a programmer remember Neo says
"The code is somewaht different" Bombs in every floor and the Merovingian sits at the TOP FLOOR #101. As in and old matrices crashed because of a "gliche similar to Smith" (Persephone: "Like many then, they caused more problems than they solved")
EITHER
the Matrix is still NOT PERFECT and about TO CRASH because of Smith and now the soul/program/mind of the One has to STOP HIM
OR
The Matrix is about to crash because Neo took the door on his left.

IN EITHER CASE
We can never know if humanity will ever be free. Remember that EVEN if Zion is the real world they probably depend on "stolen" energy from the Matrix plants so if the Matrix crashed they would also be destroyed.
