[Enter The Matrix] Sparks: "And for the record, when I cart your bodies back to Zion, do you prefer cremation or the gardens?" Ghost: "Sparks, your faith in us remains a source of personal inspiration." Sparks: "Well, I am what I am and I do what I can." Niobe: "Then, can you shut up and hit the button?" Sparks: "Your wish, Captain, my Captain, is my keystroke, colon, double backlash, execute, command."

7 = Completion

Like you already know, 7 is the number of completion in the bible. In the Matrix movies, alot is borrowed from the Christ figure and from the bible (including various other religions).
Neo is the sixth "One" and at the end of every matrix it all starts anew.
Hence, there is yet to be another ""One"", the seventh to end the cycle and destroy the matrix.
Of course, I personally believe this to be a hint at the real humanity's future.
It makes perfect logical sense. But the final matrix I believe is the opposite of completion, chaos and exiles gone amuck, waiting for the last "One" to change it all.

Do they really "borrow" from other religions?
On a related note, the number seven figures prominently in a number of religions. |
Understood, but the Matrix films follow more closely to the Christ aspect than anything else, or haven't you noticed?
Also, buddhism is another big religion/philosophy based in the Matrix films. Of course, that one is blindingly obvious...
And yes, they "borrow" ideas from religions and plilosophies

This is what you notice. But of course you can recognize because of your experience with these things. What you call the "Christ aspect"...well maybe you should say what you mean by that, first.

True the concepts are there as well but this is really just scratching the surface, too.

Tell me. What does it mean to "borrow" ideas from religions and philosophies?
I mean, because another way to put it is that someone is retelling old myths, that in themselves retell older myths. But this time you're changing the story around instead of telling a different story this time. It depends on how you look at it, I guess.

The seventh One?

My theory is that Sati will be the seventh One.
Up until Neo, all the Ones followed the same pattern. Every new Matrix spawned one human anomaly that became the One. The One followed his designated path, came to the architect, walked out the left door, chose 23 people, new Zion, rebooted Matrix ... and everything started anew.
Since Neo broke the pattern, there must be a change now. If there is a new One, there has to be a different pattern. Why shouldn't it be a program this time, someone who is not from the human world, but from the world of machines?
And Sati would be the perfect candidate for it. She is already an anomaly, a program that was created out of love. She didn't have any purpose, but she gave herself a purpose, she created a sunrise.
And in this sunrise I see a little hint of what she could do once she develops her powers as the One. She could find a way to clear the sky. That would be another big step towards a world where humans and machines live in peace.
Of course, this is mere speculation, but who knows?

it would be horrible if the Wachowskis were to bite really hard off of Frank Herbert and have Sati take over as the new One and be opposed in the Real World by a blind Neo. hah.
Neo's path doesn't really follow Christ's. not closely. matter of fact, the most biblical figure in the entire trilogy is Morpheus.
