Is it just me or do Google's results suck sometimes? I don't think it's because of search engine spammers. The top results that Google delivers are not spam. They are just not as good as they could be.

I cannot give you any specific search terms, it's just an overall impression.

Hope they will fix this soon.

Maybe Google is allowing people who pay for their rankings to be listed ahead of those who don't pay? Other search engines have been doing this for a while.

Well, since this is one of the first hits when you search for "Matrix Forum", I don't think you should be complaining Wink.

I guess it all comes down to specifying what you need. If I want to buy an apple with Matrix coding on it, I will be very unsatisfied when I just look for Matrix or Apple. I don't think it neccesarily has something to do with the Search Engine, but more with the sites begin searched, and the person searching.

You search for something & there'll be 60 pages of search results that have nothing to do with what your searching for, just happen to have the word on the site some where, & most the time the exact thing your looking for is either in the middle or on the last page!

Well..... here I am.

And how does that differ from any other search site? I personally do not see the difference with the "Lycos" or "Yahoo" search engines. The best search engine, in my opinion, is copernic.com..., which uses multiple search engines at a time to get the best results.

Ask Jeeves is apparently the most specific (

) but I can't be stuffed trying it.

What bugs me when i search are the hits you get that pretend to be useful. The ones that seem to be their own wierd little search engines or are advertising sites that respond to pretty much any hit at all. You end up having to wade through these blasted fake sites in order to get a real result these days.

I used to use msn search or some such crap and then I was introduced to Google and fell in love immediately simply for the speed. And still it's my favorite search engine, simply for the speed.

But yeah I hear what you're saying about fake sights. I think sometimes web masters include descritpive words in meta tags that have zilch to do with their site just to get hits. It's an underhanded method but there have been times I wandered onto something interesting while searching for something totally different. So underhanded or not it does get results.

How can search engines combat such false search returns?

Of course there's a God, the Wachowski brothers were devinely inspired!
