Neo as an ignorant mass-murderer in the trilogy?

It's true what Morpheus said in M1 - that anybody that is still blindly a "part" of the system (a Matrix slave) is an enemy, and therefore the rebels shouldn't feel ashamed when they kill a seemingly innocent bystandard due to the fact that they're doing it for a PURPOSE - that purpose being the completion of the prophecy in which Morpheus believes Neo is the one to fulfill....

....But now let's take a look at the flip side.

It's obvious that Neo had to kill innocent people to save Morpheus in the skyscraper in M1, but think about how many people Neo killed in Reloaded. You know which scene I'm talking about? If not, I'll fill you in: The scene in which he is flying at a super-sonic speed through the heart of the city, causing a whirlwind of physical destruction that HAD to kill thousands. And he wasn't doing this out of the prophecy's purpose - he was doing it out of denial (the "most predictable of human responses") to save his ONE true love. In other words, he ignorantly let THOUSANDS of people die in order to hold onto his ONE love connection.

So my question to you is this .... Do you view Neo as an ignorant mass-murderer?

Until his last moments... yes.

Oracle: He is you. Your opposite, your negative, the result of the equation trying to balance itself out.

What's Smith's body count in the films? (It's not high) Does he ever kill off-handedly? (It's always with exact purpose) If Neo is Smith's opposite then...

Cap'n, where's your dualistic side now?

NEO and Smith are the same. They are not two exclusive entities. Remember, the whole connection speech?

well, I hope not because it is incomplete. They are the same entity split into two parts.

I love it! Whitelaugh

ps. It's still not what intell formerly was willing to accept (because it is what I said back then. I referenced the "something written over" Smith lines). Somehow, I think intell will suddenly change his mind, and we'll be treated to a story about how it wasn't really a mind change at all. Cap. just misunderstood before, is what will be said.

Who cares about Red shirts especially if they are Blue Pills? bazoom!

memory-alpha.org...

This is one of the fascinating things about The Matrix as a movie. I think the theme could have been presented without all of the gratuitous violence but M! would have failed in the box office and M2 and M3 never would have been made. The hypothetical people in the sonic boom are irrelevant to the story. The guards killed in Morpheus' break out have more emotional impact which isn't much in The Reality of our current Matrix.

Beware of vengeful Red Shirts however.

Maybe.
I think that it was done to show that Neo was going so fast that the suction of the air was so strong that it lifted cars.

It was just a film efect like "bullet time"
they showed the path of the bullets.

It was also late at night when everyone was home in bed.
the cars were parked.

Morpheus: You've been living in a dream world, Neo.

Yeah thats what I thought!

The rebels kill tons of innocent people for no good reason!

The could have just knocked them out for gods sake! They are killing the very people they strive to protect!

Ak47 bazoom!

You didn't come here to make the choice. You've already made it. Your here to understand why you made it.

but still...

whats the point of trying to free the bluepills if they have killed three quarters of them?

If one was hacked by an agent, they could just stun the agent for a moment then run, try and lose him.

My point is still valid

I meant the swat teams and soldiors and everything, not just the ones possessed by agents

Well we shouldn't be concerned about how many there are... you have to remember they're not being born anymore they're being grown... dead bodies re-liquified and plugged in again.

The word on the street usually is that Morpheus is dead, but many don't think so...

that sim Morpheus implies that Neo is dead physically speaking, but that a sim program of him still exists somewhere out there... that's exactly what I thought that happened to Neo at the end of Revolutions... even the lyric of the song Neodamerung say that he'll reach immortality.

I guess that we finally know what really happened to Neo.

Regarding the initial question of this topic, I think indeed that Neo is selfish, he's clearly not the "profile-type" of the One, and that's how the Oracle wanted it. He was like a weapon of mass destruction in the hands of what some would call a terrorist nowadays.

Neo:"there is no spoon"
Merovingian:"there is no lipstick!"

Say, is there a particular place where the players discuss and post these stuff ? It's very interesting and I must sadly admit that this forum is not as animate as it used to be.

If you have a link or something, it would be welcome.
Thanks again for these precious info Wink
