Ideas for Matrix 4

Tripleconfused Well here's one to start:

The machines (while symbolically) carying him away, may have taken his consciousness prissoner of some sort, in order to incorporate his powers into their world. Now a new form of control is created such as the uber-Matrix and the peace settlement is broken first by the machines.
By this time hoever the people of Zion have a much better deffense and a new war starts (it's not a slaughter anymore).

Flux

So if you have an idea for a Matrix 4 post it here!

PS: btw, I really don't believe there should be a Matrix 4, that would ruin it all. Everything that has a beginning has an end, and we have to accept that as much as we liked the movie! I know what you feel, I don't want to let go either but rather than dragging this on, it's better that it ends here!

peace people of Zion

Now come on..

I think it would be a tremendous waste to make a Matrix 4. It's like Keanu said, they've 'told the story'.

The Matrix was supposed to be about the purpose of the One, and it was, from start to finish. To do anything else would be off topic, regardless if you think Neo died or not. My worst fear is that they're gonna boff this series up like they did Star Wars by coming out with a cheesy set of sequels 20 years from now that are mostly special effects, one-liners, and sex appeal with none of the Wachowski style philosophy involved. I'd be righteously pissed.

And anyway, there already is a Matrix 4, to some extent. Matrix Online, the new MMORPG, contains a lot of plotlines written by the Wach. sibs. Its supposed to take place after Revolutions, and according to the website deals with the fight for the survival and 'humans and machines alike'. Thus, I believe the future of the Matrix world is to be written by this game.

Although it would be kinda cool if a movie was made taking off of the Matrix world as it has become after a couple years of Matrix Online players hashing it out worldwide with specific player names, etc. But officially, I still think a Matrtix 4 movie would be a bad idea.

I totally agree. As I said in my previous message, however i was trying to focus more on people's creativity rather than starting a whole new idea!

ressurection,the next level.
returning to zion from true reality(countermeasures being made right now;)
this time an awakening on a mass scale, showing that without thier ever so great matrix they never really had a chance to control.
they always say know thy enemy better than thy freind.
anyway,so everyones in this *zoin*reality getting prepped to wake up one more time,in the meantime this new realization preoccupies mankind with all kinds of new dilemmas.with the thought of what this "reality" neo speaks of.

If they make a Terminator 4 showing the war, it will make Terminator 3 a lot better. But to have all this buildup from 1 and 2 and not finish it off...well...it was disappointing.

We're not talking about actually making a Matrix 4, we're just gonna put our immense aquisition of things learned and imagined to some use - that is our PURPOSE
I think we really need to do this, the REASON being, for the good of our MINDS and our SANITY! Cool

Symbolism Completed

I would leave the trilogy alone and instead carry out the Christian or biblical symbolism (Too many examples to count) in the form of another game or another Animatrix named DVD called whatever that shows that Neo is "resurrected" which is symbolic of Christ who arose from the dead after three days in the tomb. No need to spoil the trilogy and then before you blink it is Matrix 24 and Neo is wire jumping out of his wheelchair to kick some geriatric butt for eating his strained peas or ripping off his depends. I do feel that more closure is needed as to what happens to Neo after the machines usher him off but do it through another PS2, XBOX game or another Animatrix showing what came about of the people of Zion and Neo..leave the big screen alone. Thanks Wachos for the ride!

(T3 spoiler, if you care)

Hey, now that I think about it, Terminator 3 does exactly what Revolutions does! In T1 and T2, they fight against the coming of Judgment Day, and in T2, you're led to believe humans win. In T3, Judgment Day comes anyway, completely destroying the point of the previous two movies!

Revolutions does pretty much the exact same thing, as the humans lose anyway, even if not as severely.

Here's one: rather than a Matrix 4 movie set shortly after Revolutions and the initialization of the 7th Matrix... how about another group of movies, games, CGI short stories that occurs a centuries later. It could be the 17th Matrix, and in order to make the story markedly different a few important conditions could be present: a) the sky is almost clear again b) the Machines are on the verge of implementing a "final solution" c) unplugged humanity is no longer restricted to Zion and thus man and machine are closer to parity than the current story.

This one could be the 2nd big war of machines vs man (where the machines obviously decisively won the 1st war during 2nd Renaisance). To make the new stories fit in with the current stories, ageless lifeforms (eg the longlived programs in the Matrix like the Merovingian and Seraph) could return as the same actors. A number of events could trigger the beginning of this new war... maybe the Merovingian finally knocks off the Oracle, or Smith reemerges and takes over the machine world, or perhaps free humanity completes developement of a new weapon and decides to put it to use.

The storyline might seem cliche', in light of stories like the Terminator. However, the Terminator films have only talked about it, gave us glimpses and used it as a premise for the main thread of the story. Although I'm sure many cartoons and comics have told such a tale, there is no movie, good one at least, about a huge war between man and machines. Simply put, I think a lot of people would enjoy watching hours of cool looking robots and machines tearing each other up, with all of ensueing explosions and special effects. The Matrix provides an excellent, well developed story-line to feed such a story. This could potentially be "the 3rd Renaisance" or something like that.

Matrix and other stories

I've read a few posts about the Matrix fitting in with other stories, especially the Terminator. The 2 main ones are:
I. the Terminator events happen, then Skynet decides to build the Matrix to better put humanity to use.
II. The machines take over as told by the 2nd Renaisance, the Matrix stories happen up through Revolutions... but then the Architect decides man is more trouble than worth so the final solution plan is implemented and the Matrix transforms into Skynet.

Another theme is technophobia. Assume mankind eventually defeats the machines, then because the Earth is ruined as a place to live space travel begins in earnest. But the fear of AI would scar us for millenia and a Butlerian Jihad event could ensue... and the Dune stories could pick up. The whole reason the Dune Universe was so warped is because man distrusted machines and advancement had to come from things not requiring AI. A catastrophic conflict that almost exterminates the species is a plausible reason why some people might be fearfull of machine life. Of course there are other stories with very positive or even heroic machines... but they wouldn't fit in as naturally as this one.

As Smith said (and I interpret), this time things are not exactly the same as before. Zion is only partially destroyed. An uncertain and uneasy "peace" now exists. The cult of of the One can be expected to grow ever more prominent. Though skeptics remain, more people than ever now believe Neo to have halted the holohaust (I don't the word is too strong here). He is also believed to return one day. At this juncture I'd like to see Neo (whatever he's become) somehow pass on the knowledge of what he's learned to someone in Zion. (I wish that someone could be Trinity, but that is not meant to be.) And Zion will now work to accumulate a collective memory to survive future cycles. But will there be future cycles? Could this peace be stabilized? Is the purpose of the One truly fulfilled? Questions.

Questions and also issues that can be expanded on (perhaps in a Animatrix style DVD):

-The political aftermath of the "peace": What about those in Zion that want ALL humans freed? Will man and machine, one again, live side by side (as they did before the war began)?

-Will people be free to move in and out of the Matrix? Will it be "against the agreement" for "free people" to try and free others?

-Persephone said that the Marovingian "used to be like [Neo]." When, how? What were the circumstances?

-The Marovingian himself. What is his purpose. What was his original purpose? Why do other programs like "The Twins," "The Trainman," and (formally) Seriph, pledge their allegance to him? What does he have that interests them so much that they would "work" for him? Do they HAVE TO work for him? Is it their choice? What do they receive in return?

-Who, what and where did Persepone come from?

-Seriph's story. He used to work for the Marovingian? What changed his mind?

-Did the Twins really die in Reloaded? (I sort of hoped they didn't, but I guess they did).

-Tank's death? (Though, I think this would be highly unlikely considering the insignificance of it, much less the possibility that he didn't come back because of the money, just my opinion though).

-The Oracle's metamorphasis (What EXACTLY did she "lose and keep" as a result of the change.)

The Matrix: Revolutions rocked!

As you said, no Matrix 4 is needed, but maybe new films based on the characters like Merovingian, Persephone, etc., like spin-offs from the trilogy.

Another idea I'd like to see in a film - or films - is the story of Morpheus BEFORE he knew Neo - I mean, the other "Ones" he found or the quest for Neo... There's a lot to tell there...

(like Star Wars did...tell the past, not the future)

Also: the awakening of the main group (Trinity, Tank, Cypher, etc.)
- The Merovingian and how he builds his empire
- The Oracle and her "School for the chosen" (spoons included)

And if they decide to make a Matrix 4, a good plot would be: "There is a new menace in Matrix, machines cannot solve it, and have to resurrect Neo somehow to deal with it..."
Remember the machines kept Neos's body, maybe they could get his mind rescued from some backup or something like that... and put the mind again in the body, trough the Matrix...Or maybe recover Neo's essence from a backup of the Matrix and make a clon for his body, connected to the Matrix, give hima red pill and he awakes again in real world

The menace for the matrix could be Smithv2.0, some Human hacker (from the real-Zion-world) connects to the Matrix and inserts a virus - a modified Smith.

i agree with most of the posted items. i am a huge fan of the matrix series(including the game). i dont think another movie would be true to the series. as posted earlier, the trilogy was about Neo. the story is ended(with a few questions remaining). a animatrix story about pre Neo all about Morpeus would be fantastic! and also comics after the matrix to continue where we left off, but not another movie. its not all about the money! the comics would be amazing, we all know the brothers started in the comic industry and if you havent got or seen the "art of the matrix" book check it out, and you will know what i mean.

in saying that, the more i watch the movies the more i understand, and the more i get questions answered. thank you to the brothers for the ride, i just hope its not all over!

i like the idea of a movie (or novel maybe) about Morpheus, how he was jacked out the first time and by who. This movie should be more like the matrix 1, so that the agents are as troubeling as they were in the first movie. And it would be great to se Agent smith again with his earplug and all

it ends tonight....

if u think about it the people who were copied by smith like the orricle and seraph they returned to normal at the end of the third one so why wouldnt neo. Like bang or whatever his name was that agent smith took over he was still alive even though smith copied him so neo should still be alive?

I think it would be cool to see one or more prequels. It could show the war and it could also show how Trinity, Morpheus, and the others came about. it would be cool to see Switch and Epoch get some more trigger time too.
