[Matrix Reloaded]
Neo: "So we need machines and they need us. Is that your point, Councillor?"
Councillor Hamann: "No, no point. Old men like me don't bother with making points. There's no point."
Neo: "Is that why there are no young men on the Council?"
Councillor Hamann: "Good point."

What happened to the other people?

There were never some billions of humans? Even before the Man-Machine war?

Why would the machines lie? If they made people believe that there only 500 million people in the world why would that be any different?

As you know the Matrix was written to simulate life as it was at the end of the 20th century. At that time, only a few years ago, there was an estimated 6-7 billion people on the earth.

They made blue pills believe that there were billions of people on the earth because...well, see above. I suppose there is no specific reason why they choose that amount of people other than the fact that that was the estimated human population when the Matrix was written.

Hm.. right.

What about Agent Smith saying:

Quote:

AGENT SMITH
Have you ever stood and stared at it, Morpheus? Marveled at its beauty. Its genius. Billions of people just living out their lives... oblivious.

EDIT

And what about this?

At that time, Smith was still an agent of the system....so he was programmed by the Architect to continue the storyline of the Matrix. So, regardless of how many blue pills were actually plugged into the Matrx, he had to say that there were billions of people plugged in because thats what the Matrix was trying to portray

There were never 7 billions of people? Even before the war?

* A) If there were, now where are the rest 6,5 billions?

* B) If there were not.. well it doesn't make sense.

So, I guess it's A. So, where are they?

Or * C) I don't understand it.

Ahhhhh....sorry.

Remember that there were 3 versions of the Matrix. The third version (choice) had five previous "ones" that reached the Architect and reinserted the prime program to reboot the Matrix. So Neo's version was Matrix v3.6. Based on what Morpheous said..."I remember that for 100 years we have fought these machines. I remember that for 100 years they have send their armies to destroy us"....we can ssume that the rebooted versions (v3.1, v3.2, etc...) lasted approx 100-150 years each. And that's on top of however long the first two versions of the Matrix (v1.0, v2.0) lasted for. So I would say that it's actually closer to the year 2700-3000 in the real world.

Over the course of 700-1000 years the machines completely wiped out the human race except for the people that are plugged into the Matrix and the people they let live in Zion.

wouldn't some people try and leave the city at one point in their life? I'm sure the people in the matrix arn't as sad as to spend their entire life in one city, and not go outside it... Screwy

You didn't come here to make the choice. You've already made it. Your here to understand why you made it.

Chelsea's caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo has revealed the secret to nike-air-jordan.org... winning all three matches since Andre Villas-Boas was sacked after just seven months in charge. The former nike-air-max-pascher.org... assistant under Villas-Boas has sparked new life in an aging side that was showing its age a few weeks ago, resulting in wins in the FA Cup, Premier League and, most recently, a 4-1 extra-time win over Napoli in the second nike-air-max-pascher.net... leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie that allowed Chelsea to advance on a 5-4 aggregate score. And according to Di Matteo, the key to leading the squad's rebirth has been letting captain John Terry do his job for him nike-air-max90.net....
"I noticed the problem while watching Andre," Di Matteo told reporters after his side's Champions League win. "John wanted to manage the team, but Andre wouldn't let him. The players listen to John, so I let him do the work while I wear Andre's old air-max-soldes.net... suits and dance on the touchline. It's a win-win-win situation. Literally, because we've won all three games."
Though some managers wouldn't appreciate sharing his duties with one of his players, Di Matteo, a former Chelsea player himself, sees it as a pressure reliever that could keep him in the job longer than his predecessor.
Said Di Matteo: "It's great. Unlike Carlo [Ancelotti] and Andre,acheternikechaussures.org... if Fernando Torres continues his goal drought, I can just blame John. People always believe everything you blame on him."
