Anomaly: You got part of my question answered, but I don't really agree with it. Why would he exist in a human's computer before then? ESPECIALLY if he hates humans! Unless he was in 01's archives...
And how could any machine (I say machine because I don't think a human would design his/her own race's demise) design a program to come up with the IDEA of the Matrix if those machines themselves couldn't think it up. It just doesn't make SENSE.

Interesting, I remember someone came up with a idea explaining characters like the architect an others were sentinel like machines connected into the matrix not programs.

I said something like that above. What if the Architect was the Machine Ruler we see in M3 (that bargains with Neo)? Or some other machine plugged in. That would make a lot more sense to me. I personally think that he's some kind of program, though, designed for balancing equations.

Is he God? No, I still don't think so. Maybe he is in his own domain (the white-tv-room), but I don't think so from the Matrix. There's no trace of him except the programs/things/ect. that he balances.

TRUE! --nervous --very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say that I am mad?

Allright Splintey. Once and for all forget about the God analogy. Jeez. The only reason he is LIKE God is cause God created the universe and the Architect created the Matrix. THATS IT. Forget about what other people say.

Moving on. Maybe hes not a program. If so, I believe that he is definitely not the machine ruler. I believe that the machine ruler and the Architect are separate entities. If anything, the Architect might be a form of AI. Artificial Intelligence. He lives in the machine world but can connect to the Matrix where he shows his RSI. A machine connecting to a matrix type program idea is explored in Animatrix. Matriculated. Have you seen it? That is probably what we should be focusing on.

Not that I'm obsessed or anything. :whitelaugh: Though I DO think I have a permanant facial twitch now.

I've seen matriculated, but I have no idea what it was about. That could work, though. That would be why his residual self image is human-like (although he despises humans).

In Matriculated, the humans that you see are trying to convert a machine that they have captured to fight for them. We see that they have already converted a few machines. They have experimented with the jack-in-the-head matrix technology and have learned it. Remember the monkey with the hole in the head? Anyway, they make a hole in the head for the machine and create an interesting program from a construct. They then jack the machine in and jack in themselves. The machine does have a RSI. Its an interesting program and it tries to tell the machine that it can trust humans. When the place is attacked by sentinels, they all jack out and fight the sentinels. The machine helps in destroying all the sentinels too. Everybody dies except the machine and one of the humans who is unconscious. Apparently the machine took a liking to this particular female human. So the machine jacks the human into that program and jacks in himself. The conversion was apparantly a success but it cost the human dearly. She is now forever stuck in that program with the machine. I think.

the chicken and the egg stuff isnt it?

the humans darkened the sky...a programme was written to investigate alternative power sources...this programme came up with human power...another programme was written to investigate how best to utilse this power...another programme was written on how to implement the suggestions of the previous programme...this programme was the architect....

Matriculated: I thought that they both died, because although she could accept HER helping the machine, she couldn't accept the MACHINE helping HER. Her scream kind of confused me (among other things...)
