1. How often do you go the Cinema?

hmm, once a month prolly, once every two in non good film periods.

2. Have you watched the Matrix film/s at the Cinema, if so, which and what led you to do so?

Yup, friends got me to see the first one. I was genuinely surprised when neo woke up in the power plant, i had no idea it was a sci fi film. I saw them all at the cinema.

3. Which films related to The Matrix have you seen?

Matrix 1, 2, 3 and animatrix

4. Please list your favourite Matrix films in order of preference

I see all the films as equally good, however the first stands alone and thus must come slightly above the others.

5. What genre would you classify The Matrix and its sequels as?

As an english teacher, who uses the matrix in his media lessons, i can classify it officially as a Science fiction/ action mixed genre film with elements of the thriller/horror genres. lol.

6. Before having seen the first “Matrix” film, what were you expecting to be impressed/interested by in the film?

I had heard it had fight scenes, that was all i knew.

7. After having seen the first Matrix, which of the following do you think made the film a success in your eyes?

excellent in depth philosophical story, coupled with very strong character parts, then special effects, such as bullet time.

8. Which aspects of the sequels, Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions disappointed you compared to the first film?

I think that they could have answered more of the questions. I certainly think that they could have cleared up the neo affects the real world mystery by saying neo had some sort of wireless modem in his head.

9. Have you ever purchased/acquired any Matrix merchandise? (posters, sunglasses, Enter The Matrix game, soundtrack, etc) Please specify.

I have the soundtracks, the music is very good.

10. Have you have purchased/rented any of the trilogy on DVD or Video, if so, what influenced you to do so? Has advertising, word of mouth, trailers, reviews, etc influenced you?

DVD and video, i use them to teach and think they are great. In fact, i probably teach the course you are on (at my school anyway). I love english and media lessons that involve the matrix, lets me teach my hobby.

11. Do you think, having seen The Matrix, that it has influenced the way you look and judge other films in general?

Yes, i am more accepting of multi part films as a concept.

12. Do you see The Matrix as a revolutionary film, or a film that re-visits old ideas and styles already expressed in variety of older films?

The multi part film idea is revolutionary. Bullet time and the imagery are similarly ground breaking. It builds on old films in many ways, but breaks enough new ground.

13. Do you believe “The Matrix” has influenced films? If so, which films and in what way?

Possibly equilibrium, i`m unsure when it came out. Oh yes, the scene in shrek too lol.

14. The directors and producer of The Matrix claim that there are several layers of meaning behind the trilogy, both philosophical and religious. Do you agree or believe that The Matrix is trying to be more than it really is?

There are many layers of meaning, its great to talk the film over with others. It is a well crafted puzzle.

15. Do you perceive the last two films, Revolutions and Reloaded as separate films or a big film split in two? If the latter, do you feel cheated at having to pay twice for one film at the cinema/ on dvd?

Hmm, i dont feel ripped off. The suspense of waiting for the next film was valuable and built it up for me. They are separate films that happen to be joined together as a single story. Both are valuable in and of themselves.

No, I keep other films seperate from The Matrix and don't try to set a standard or look for comparisons.

12. Do you see The Matrix as a revolutionary film, or a film that re-visits old ideas and styles already expressed in variety of older films?
Although they probably exist, I haven't seen another film like The Matrix, so I consider it revolutionary. At the least, it brought this concept into the mainstream.

I think The Matrix has influenced many action films in terms of visual effects.

Yes, I can see the religious and philosophical meanings, but I don't think it's trying to be more than it really is, I think it IS more than some people take it for.

15. Do you perceive the last two films, Revolutions and Reloaded as separate films or a big film split in two? If the latter, do you feel cheated at having to pay twice for one film at the cinema/ on dvd?

I saw them as seperate films. While they were much more similar in style than The Matrix and Reloaded were to each other, Revolutions definately focused more on the war.

Age:39

Gender: Female

1) C:1-3 months

2) I watched all the trilogy at the cinema, I read an article about the Matrix and it sounded interesting so I went...and it was!

3)The Matrix
Reloaded
Revolutions
Animatrix
Many, many documentaries, and also the story in Enter the Matrix - this is also a relevent part of the story.

4) The Matrix
Reloaded
Revolutions... I can't relly put them in any specific order, each film was different and therefore stood-out on its own merits.

5) Sci-Fi/futuristic

6) Sci-fi with the technological/computer theme

7) The general plotline/philosophical plotline/special effects

CoolI wasn't disappointed!

9) The Art of the Matrix/book
Enter the Matrix Game
All the soundtracks
Agent Smith Sunglasses
Many huge posters
The Matrix DVD twice (one being the special collectors edition)
Reloaded twice (one being the special edition Agent Smith cover)
Spawn Collectors Items
Just began to amass the Matrix comics
I will be purchasing the Matrix-on-Line monthly, when it is released next year.

10) I have all the films on DVD..(yes even Revos) I will purchase that one when it comes available...the download will suffice till then.
I bought them because I LOVE the films.

11) Yes, to a certain degree, yes I have become judgemental regarding other films, especially if they are a poor copy.

12) The Matrix Films are definately revolutionary. Although they do basically deal with the battle between good and evil, they do it with style, and in a way that many people could comprehend. Dealing with issues that are very relevent to the world today.

13) The first film that springs to mind has to be Equillibrium. The figting was very similar and the air of the film was very 1984 like.

14) There are I believe many layers within the Matrix Trilogy..
Philosophy, Religion, Love, Hope, Faith, Trust, Partnerships, allegory, sacred numbers, understanding...I don't think that the Matrix was trying to be more than it really is...because it is there, I found them as did many, many others.

15) I percieved the last two films as being a continuation, because that is what they were. I did not feel at all cheated. I loved the whole trilogy, it will remain my favourite trilogy for many, many years to come.
