OK, here's my problem (or one of them) I'll give you a scenario to the point(s) of my understanding or lack thereof:

Woman and man have sex in the matrix
Woman becomes "pregnant" 1st question: does a child start to grow in it's own pod, but if they never really had sex, how is there a child?
OK, so now, woman gives birth 2nd question: similar to the first, how is the child in the real world, or machine city or whatever if they never had sex, how do the babies get there?
Sorry if this made no sense, but make your best stab at helping me...

Children are grown - presumably from extracted eggs and sperms. When people have a baby in the matrix they are allocated one from the fields.
The only problem I have is that surely there would be as many pregnancies from already existing people in the matrix to fulfil the quota of newly grown children. Naturally the machines would produce as many babies as possible. Would they sometimes give children programs for parents to make up for this?

I know what you mean. So do the machines "make babies" when they think they need more energy, so they tell two ppl they had sex so the woman becomes "pregnant"? What if they run out ofppl who are together? GAH!

i've once thought of this -- never really searched for an answer lol. maybe the machines extract sperm & egg from parents an create a new life form --> more energy =D

and if they can't 'keep' up, they may create programs to represent children. =P less energy, but they save the time to create a child

Alles was einen Anfang hat - hat auch ein Ende...

Um actually you're a bit slow there. If you read what I said earlier you'll see that I already suggested having AI parents. I was presuming that baby production would be too fast when you consider contraception and the number of sperms in a man's body.

Did I miss something?
