hey guys... im new to this board.. i was just reading over a buncha your posts.. some really interersting ideas. If you have some time, are just bored.. or just wanna listen to my drunken babbling... here ya go.

Id just thought id let out some of my ideas on the movie.... no real big thoeries.. just lemme konw what you think (its prolly pretty long, dont read it if you dont want.. lol) Please exuse any misquotes, im just restating what i can remember. I basically have 3 theories here, my video games theory, the strong AI theory, and the infiniteMatrix probem.

theories/ideas:
1. Orcale - Architech

I studied AI and computer science at school and read a few articles that i believed greatly reflected the matrix triligoy. The architech admits his flaw and says he had to incorporate a more, wider scope view while creating the matrix. Now, for any programmers out there, heres my two ideas. The architech says he boiled the matrix down to an equation.. bla bla bla... but it didnt work.. everyone died.. ahh, so he got the oracle to come in and help out. They were essentially writing a computer program for the matrix. The architech to me resembles the cognitive side of AI. As many AI researcher split the AI delema into the cognition/perception dichotomy, this idea holds. The oracle, then of course, would take the role of the perceptive side. And this idea isn't too hard to grasph as she is often reffered to as the 'fortune teller'. It seems the failure of the original matrix was the architechs 'creation' fails to meet the "boolean dream". Essentially, many ideas of AI state that many things (like the human brain) cannot be reduced into one equation, thus the first matrix failed. A famous AI quote comes to mind: "Statistically emmergent mentality supercedes the boolean dream". Which as I interpert, related to the matrix greatly. The oracle comes along and seems to be the remedy of this solution. So to me it seems the Wachoski's really did some homework on the matrix. Theres no real theory here, i just thought id express how i thought the matrix may have been acheived.

2. The multicharacter semiotics
Througout each movie there are many characters with very 'meaningfull' names and appearences and some that just ressemble the KFC guy (i hope that he wasn't supposed to be the matrix's "KERNAL"... uhh.. geek joke..) ANywho... To me an important character was the keymaker, who eventually helps lead to my idea of the videoGame theory. The keymaker to me almost ressembles, or embodies an interactive Help file, or help menu. He can grant access and provide help for pretty much anything in the matrix. The marovingeon even states in reloaded something alongs the line of:

"Oh yes, it is true. The Keymaker, of course. But this is not a reason, this is not a `why.' The Keymaker himself, his very nature, is means, it is not an end, and so, to look for him is to be looking for a means to do... what?"

to me its like asking someone for a help file for nothig. Neo/morphes/Trin knew they needed him, but they didn't know why.. or what he was.. The Merovingion points this out and sees they really don't know what they are doing or what theyre purpose is yet. The fact that he was the "KEYMAKER" kinda shows the hollywood sybolic meaning of his character. It seems blunt.. but they had to do it some way. Constantly he guides them through the matrix until his untimely death... Have you ever played a video games, gotten stuck... and gone online for help, or read the 'hints section' of the game? His character to me leads to my videoGame theory of the matrix.

3. The 'videoGame' theory
If you watch any of the matrices... some things seem to work out too well for our protagonists.. and when shit hits the fan..someone (often a program from the matrix) comes to rescue them. If i were to design a program to keep these human minds busy in the matrix.. id have a back up plan.. ie the videoGame theory. Once freed, they felt that they had a mission to acomplish, so i believe almost everything that happened in the matrix was planned, again.. a System of control. Play any video game.. and it related so much to the matrix.. Some hero.. some obstacles.. then a conclusion. The whole 'game' that neo goes through just prolongs the inevitable destruciton of zion... I guess they could have been trying to weed out the weaker or less fit 'ones'. Either way.. if he was supposed to eventually see the architech, then why were the agents (except for smith) still trying to kill him. Well, thats were it relates to a video game. If a programmer made it so that you couldn't pass the first level... it would be a crappy game.. and it'd be a waste to program the final boss, ie the visit with the architech. So everything that happens to me is like just a big game. Merovingion: "It's a game, it is only a game." Once neo found out he was 'the one' at the end of matrix 1, the real 'game' had begun. This game or backup plan preoccupies the freedom fighter of the realworld after they gain a stlite bit of knowledge about the matrix. The machines have already created this virtual reality, so whats adding a little bit of adventure to spice things up for our heros, (neo, morpheus, trin.. etc) and slowem down a bit. Of course.. agent smith throws everything off. The theory kinda goes down the pooper when smith comes into play. This more or less ends the video game theory, it isn't much of a theory.. just some reasoning for the events in the matrix.

4. Strong AI theory
Many people assume that AI, is AI... end of story. Well, lets see, human are intelligent. Does that mean that I am as intelligent as say a 2 year old. Well its all relative, and dependent on the definition of, intelligence (another issue in AI). Well say I am an agent in the matrix, and so is a the equivelent of a 2 year old program. Clearly I would do a better job then the two year old. Not all programs are perfect, as proof all the merovengian's henchmen, outdated programs. So what is storng AI, I use this term a bit more loselly then the tru AI definition, but not too far from it. I find all the basic programs in the matrix.. drones.. basic simple AI who are doing their jobs. We get some outcast programs... such as Merovengian, serif, .... etc. who are more or less 'evolved' then the others. The best example would be smith, who has clearly evolved beyond the drone scope of functionality. If you watch the last short in the animatrix, they convience a machine sentry to 'change sides' after some re-education. If we accept that the one is a program, i return to the statiscally emmergent mentallity. And as the architecht rambles on, he is the result of the imperfect equation and the manifestation of the mind in the matrix. His code exibits the true idea of my "strong AI". His final last desicion in the architechs meeting room is a result of the evolution of the strong AI manifestation inside the matrix. He isn't the first 'one', however.. he was the first to finally make a true choice. His code is mixed with smith's code.. and smith's evolution as an individual AI being progresses. I think i could go into dawrinism with this.. but lets stay away from that :O. So we have smith, who exibist signs of strong AI, he even states that he understands the rules... yet choses not to obey them. Interesting. The evolution of a computer program. The conclusion of the matrix to, and Neo's final conquest shows the peek of the evolution of the AI.

5. InfiniteMatrix problem

If youve made it this far, i thank you for reading my rambling.. Im probably going into a deadend... but hey.. talking about this stuff is fun. My final idea is the infinitness of the matrix. In a sense: if the machines set the time period of the matrix as the early 21st century.... Ai inside the matrix would eventually be created. A war would brew... a matrix is made... and the cycle repeats... I know the matrix in a matrix has been talked abut before.. but here, even the machines wouldn't know they are in a matrix. So essentially.. this could go on forever... millions of matrices all running in wat would technically be called... the REAL>real world. WHo knows what year it is. It goes on forever...

Thanks for reading this stuff. I know it asks more questions then it answers.. but its just some fun reading i thought would be cool and interesting. Cheers, and any feedback or comments would be great.

Good theroies I feel the same way about the video game theory, but smith isn't exactly a problem hes more of a side quest that turns out to be the main boss.

Kinda reminds me of the ST:TNG episode with Moriarty and the holodeck
